BAN-DRCE is currently undertaking “Technical Assistance for Poultry Agents and Feed Dealers” commissioned by IFC, World Bank in collaboration with Ethio-chicken. The overall objective of the assignment is to first assess the performance and prevailing situation of trained poultry agents and feed dealers. Based on the finding of the gap assessment and using the information gathered from various monitoring, and evaluations assessments undertaken, technical guidance will be provided through mentoring, coaching, and providing feedback to key stakeholders with the ultimate goal of enhancing the business management skill and profitability of the agents and feed suppliers.

With this notion, our firm is planning to engage energetic, qualified field level project coordinators and facilitators with proven skills in both qualitative and quantitative data collection, research team supervision, coordination, and facilitation, inner ambitious to quickly learn and excel.  

Purpose 

The purpose of the assignment is to assess the performance and prevailing situation of trained poultry agents and feed dealers in the Oromia, Amhara, and SNNP regions. Execute different corrective measures through coaching, mentoring and follow-up in close coordination with different stakeholders

The coordinators and facilitators shall coordinate and facilitate with central and project area offices to successfully perform office and field level project assessment, coaching, mentoring, follow-up and assistance. Coordinators will strongly work with the field level team and will be deployed in the regions and produce various progress and completion reports.

Responsibilities of Field Research Facilitators and Coordinators

  • Attend the induction session prepared by BAN-DRCE Consultancy. The Field Research Facilitators and Coordinators shall sign the code of conduct and entire data collection agreement document and adhere to it.
  • Participate in the training of coordinators and facilitators team with full attendance and participation;
  • Review the protocol, understand the purpose of the coordination and facilitators and internalize the assignments tools/guide
  • Work in close relationship with Ethio-Chicken area sales representatives
  • Conduct an assessment based on a pre-prepared assessment tool
  • Compare assessment result with the prior result of the agent or feed dealer
  • Assist, review and check the development plan and assessment result of the agent
  • Develop a development and follow up checklist based on the assessment result in coordination with the coordinator and central hub team
  • Provide technical advice, training, coaching, and mentoring activities as per the checklist and pre-agreement made with the agent on the first-day meeting
  • Physical and phone-based monitoring, coaching, and follow-up
  • Follow the progress and improvement of the agent until the intervention exit phase
  • Prepare a well-organized report on the progress of the agent under the coaching executed as per the checklist
  • Conduct any tasks related to the project as requested by the supervisors and the management. 

Location: Oromia, Amhara, SNNP 

Employment Type: Contract (for a minimum of 4 months)

Total number required: Not less than ten

Job Requirements

  • First cohort: Animal Health background: e.g. Higher education (DVM, BSc/MSc in Animal Science, Animal Health, Animal husbandry, or related fields
  • Second cohort: business and Social studies- background in Business management, economics, business administration, and social studies (BA and above).
  • A good understanding of the work environment and critical ethical considerations in the research process is mandatory.
  • Fluency in Afan Oromo, Amharic, local languages in SNNP, and willingness to travel to work sites is mandatory
  • Preference will be given to individuals with project management and field research experience. Fluency in English, and experience in report writing are essential.
  • Project management, coordination, and facilitation skills are a plus
  • After checklist screening, BAN-DRCE will conduct the test to recruit field project facilitators and coordinators
