Role Purpose

To ensure effective hub operations management and regional level engagement with stakeholders of the Civil Society Support Programme (CSSP) Phase 2 in line with client and British Council requirements, and to support CSSP2’s Team Leader and Senior Management Team on Hub related undertakings.

Main accountabilities but not limited to the following:

  • The role holder will be responsible for operational delivery of programme activity via the regional hubs, including resourcing and finances. Coordination and quality assurance of the work of the regional teams. Leading on new hub delivery models and ways of working.
  • Relationship management: Responsible for effective relationship management with stakeholders at regional and woreda levels.
  • Programme performance - Ensure that the hub management system is sufficiently robust to provide the required support and assurance. Provide leadership and direction on aspects of stakeholders’ management, projects delivery, quality assurance, grant management and reporting.
  • Maintain high performing teams, retain talented people who connect as a team, respect and learns from each other through creating development opportunities, better coordination, improved wellbeing, values, and behaviours, etc. Ensure that the safety and security protocols and business continuity plans are robust and staff are fully aware of and adhere to procedures and standards
  • Serve as a focal person for ‘Young People’ thematic area to provide need-based technical leadership and strategic direction for CSSP2 on its support to and engagement with young people both at partner and programme level.

Job Requirements

Role specific knowledge and experience:

The successful candidate will need to possess the following requirements:

  • A first degree or equivalent professional experience in social sciences, project management, business administration, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of five years experience managing a client funded program
  • Sound understanding of youth related issues in Ethiopia
  • Experience of managing a capacity development programme preferably for civil society organisations
  • Experience of managing multi country or large programmes that have met project closure standards and passed audits.
  • Experience of working with several different funding sources and knowledge of different programme frameworks and compliance rules.
  • Experience of working within a consortium arrangement or with other funding partners or sponsors and management of associated contracts. 

Desirable

  • Professional project management qualification
  • Experience of successfully closing down a client funded programme
