Job Description

Purpose of the Job:

As an IT officer you will be installing and configuring the computer systems and the software. You will provide technical assistance and answer questions or resolve software and hardware problems for staff in person, via telephone, electronically, or via remote assistance. Provide assistance concerning the use of computer hardware and software, including printing, installation, word processing, electronic mail, and operating systems. You will work on an online help desk system where the user issues are reported in the form of tickets with service level agreements, and these shall be resolved as per the priority.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Resolve user issues as per the priorities set on the help desk system;
  • Answer user inquiries regarding computer software or hardware operation to resolve problems;
  • Create easy to understand user manuals with pictures for the simple configurations
  • enabling the users to handle the simple problems themselves;
  • Help different departments in setting up the environments for online
  • sessions/meetings and provide technical support during these sessions/meetings;
  • Assist users to maintain digital documents and help them understand the online
  • Platforms;
  • Help IT department in the creation of simple user processes and maintain these
  • processes as per the direction of the superior;
  • Set up equipment for employee use, performing or ensuring proper installation of
  • cables, operating systems, or appropriate software;
  • Install and perform minor repairs to hardware, software, or peripheral equipment,
  • following design or installation specifications;
  • Inspect equipment and read order sheets to prepare for delivery to users;
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity using command line tools;
  • Install and configure Desktop and Laptop Computers for perfect office use;
  • Very good knowledge of the configurations of Office 365, SharePoint, Windows, email
  • configurations, SMTP Server, and internet protocols;
  • Windows Active Directory, Network and Print Services;
  • Management of user roles and creation of users with appropriate rights;
  • On call support after hours in rotation;

REPORT TO: Director, Information Technology 

DURATION: Open Indefinite Contract

Required No: 2

SALARY RANGE: Gross monthly salary of ETB 22,014.00- ETB 26,219.00 plus ETB 6,000.00 Housing allowance and ETB 1,500.00 Transport allowance, depending on candidate’s qualification, experience and earning history

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum BSC Degree in Information Technology, or related field of study, MSc computer science, IT is preferred
  • Minimum 4 years of demonstrated experience of working as Technical IT Support, IT Customer Support Engineer or IT Engineer
  • In depth knowledge of hardware and software configurations
  • IT Network and Administration certifications are a big plus
  • Knowledge of Amharic and English is required.
  • Knowledge of other local languages is advantageous.
