Job Description

TRAIDE Ethiopia is looking for professionals with valuable experience in CSR / ESG / Community development / Environmental and Social Impact Assessments.

We are currently building a pool of professionals working in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) / Environmental and Social Governance (ESG), or with significant experience with Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs). We will screen all applications, and link selected candidates with Dutch businesses that aspire to improve their business practices. Dutch businesses are active in Addis Ababa, Amhara, Oromia, Sidama, And SNNPR.

Background

Investors can accelerate local economic development process by bringing in new expertise, technologies, and financial resources. TRAIDE Ethiopia has been set-up to attract Dutch investments and help them to do business sustainably. TRAIDE Ethiopia is a program carried out by the Netherlands TRAIDE Foundation and works closely together with the Ethiopia-Netherlands Business Association (ENLBA).

The objectives of TRAIDE Ethiopia are to:

1. Increase Dutch business in and trade with Ethiopia,
2. Support established (Dutch) businesses to survive and thrive,
3. Ensure investments are implemented in a socially and environmentally responsible way.

Our activities lead to a larger and diverse investment portfolio from the Netherlands in Ethiopia and simultaneously contributes to sustainable sector development in Ethiopia. The TRAIDE program officially started in April 2021 and will continue until January 2026.

Roles and responsibilities

The specific roles and responsibilities will depend on the company. Generally, we foresee that the CSR professional will need to engage in the following activities for the company:

• Stakeholders mapping
• Assess company’s negative/positive impacts
• Community needs assessment
• Prioritizing activities in consultation with the communities and the company
• Develop a prioritized ESG action plan (including planning, KPIs, and required (human) resources)
• Embed action plan in corporate planning
• Implementation of the ESG action plan
• Continued community engagement
• Reporting to management on progress and relations

Job Requirements

Required knowledge, skills, and attitude

• Knowledge of CSR, ESG, and ESIA
• A good understanding of sustainable business
• A good understanding of community engagement good practices
• Strong communication and writing skills in the regional language and English 
• Strong networking skills
• A team player with strong interpersonal skills 
• Project management skills and experience 
• Pragmatic, problem-solving attitude 

Education Requirement

• MA/ BA in Sociology / community development/ business / project management / HR management / or any related field
