Job Description

  • Train and support agronomically the field team in his area of responsibility (theoretically and practically)
  • Be the referent person for any agronomical question or need from FAs and ZACs in his area of responsibility
  • Participate regularly to farmers trainings and field days to assess the results and advice the FAs on how to improve their day-to-day tasks with the farmers (trainings and field days audits)
  • In collaboration with the Barley Expert, lead the demonstration activities done in every woredas. This includes site selection with the FAs, input determination with the BE and continues follow of these Demos with the ZACs and FA.
  • On time requisition of budget and resource to assure the FAs are equipped on their needs for the demo activities.
  • Use the demo sites as training platforms for FAs, assess that they are well managed, report to the BE any issue which can influence the results, follow that the data are taken timely, take the pictures of the plots
  • Be a relay for improvement of our working methods with the FAs by assessing workability of the current tools and the needs of new tools
  • Train the FA's on quality procedures for collection
  • Support and follow up at collection point the unexperienced FAs to make sure that they understand the procedures and are able to follow them
  • Realize collection points audits during the collection season to assure that the FAs are following the quality procedures and advise them on how to improve their efficiency
  • Realize storage audits to ensure that the quality of the grain stored is matching with the purchased grain
  • Realize audits of aggregation points to ensure that the quality of the grain coming from the field is matching the quality delivered to Boortmalt store
  • Report on these audits every week during collection time
  • Be trained more closely by the BE to improve his technical and agronomical competences
  • Be strongly involved, with the BE, in the realization of new technical documents and their updates
  • Report in a weekly basis to the Barley Expert (BE) the challenges and agronomical issues at field level and give the field needs for the topics to be treated in the Newsletter
  • Use the demo sites as training platforms for FAs, assess that they are well managed, report to the BEM any issue which can influence the results, follow that the data are taken timely, take the pictures of the plots
  • In collaboration with the Agri improvement unit, support FA involve in small mechanization technologies development : pilot (organization of meeting, yield measurement, quality surveys) and in R&D activities on demonstration site (more notations and crop management asked). Report to the head office.

Job Requirements

Qualification:

  • Bsc in Agriculture, Agri Processing

Experience:

  • Ability to manage teams, proactive skill, must have an interpersonal skill, flexable and accurate analytical approach, great communication skill
  • Language / IT : Proficient English, Amharic
  • Proficient in Ms Office(Excel and Power Point)
