Background of Kerchanshe Equipment

Kerchanshe Trading PLc is a fully independent Ethiopian coffee farming and exporting enterprise. It has decided to broaden its company and has recently signed a Trademark agreement with Caterpillar to officially represent and distribute the Caterpillar Brand in Ethiopia. It is the only Company in Ethiopia having such official distribution rights for Caterpillar Equipment.

The commercial name for this division, which is fully owned by Kechanshe Trading PLC, is Kerchanshe Equipment. Kerchanshe Equipment is in charge of distributing and supporting construction machinery, parts, power systems, and material-handling equipment across the country.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Assisting Finance Director to ensure enhancement of computer systems, reconciliation and motivation of teams handling general ledger accounting; provision of management reports and statutory accounts including foreign currency issues, taxation matters and budgeting.

MAIN FUNCTIONS

  • Supervise the planning and coordination of monthly accounts timetable to ensure timely production of General Ledger Trial Balance.
  • Ensures timely production and distribution of monthly reports (balance sheets etc).
  • Supervise the preparation of necessary monthly general account schedules and reconciliation and appropriate actions.
  • Ensure timely rendition of insurance returns.
  • Supervise Filing of Tax Returns e.g Company Income Tax, ITF, VAT, WHT Receivable, WHT Payable, Company Tax, PAYE & other payroll deductions.
  • Ensure collection of W/Tax receipts i.e receivable and payable.
  • Assist in attending to tax assessment and audit queries to assist the Tax Consultant obtain Tax Clearance Certificates, Company Income Certificates, Capital Gain Tax, Service Fees and Dividends.
  • Supervise updating of cash/tour advance register with details of advance drawn
  • Ensure that all employees who have not accounted for previous advances are not granted new ones.
  • Prepare month-end journals and post them into E-CODA.
  • Ensure prompt payment for vendors
  • Ensure vendors accounts are properly reconciled and matched.
  • Ensure prudent financial cash management of the branch.
  • Ensure effective accurate stock control and bookkeeping.
  • Carry out administrative functions as may be required from time to time.
  • Ensure clean audit report of the region.
  • Ensure security and maintenance of the company’s assets.

Advise the Regional Manager, East on matters affecting the smooth operations of the Region.

  • Supervise the Inventory Accountant & General ledger assistant on their respective duties.

Job Requirements

KNOWLEDGE

  • At least 7 experience 5 of which must be heading a finance role in a similar setup
