Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia (HFE) is a world leading organization committed to the treatment and reintegration of patients suffering from Obstetric Fistula and the training and deployment of qualified midwives to prevent Obstetric Fistula and other childbirth injuries.

HFE was established in 1974 G.C by Drs. Catherine and Reginald Hamlin, and has been caring for the women of Ethiopia for almost more than 60 years. Including our main Fistula Hospital in Addis Ababa, we have five regional hospitals, rehabilitation and reintegration center and The Hamlin College of Midwives. We deploy midwives into rural health centers across the country and provide mentoring and other support services to these facilities.

HFE, a reputable health care institution is seeking to engage the qualified, experienced, dedicated & passionate professional Pharmacist.

 Job Summary/Basic Function

Oversee and supervise the procurement, storage and distribution as well as the monitoring of the proper handling and usage of pharmaceuticals within Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia.

Major Duties and Responsibilities of a Senior Pharmacist includes the following, but are not limited to:

• Distribute drugs according to the prescription ordered for a patient and give appropriate advice for taking such medication to patients, nursing staff and Doctors.

• Prepare required chemical solutions and drugs for patients when needed.

• Provide all necessary information and awareness to Clinical staff on how to store drugs and necessary precautions that should be taken.

• Assist and facilitate the distribution of pharmaceutical drugs and medical supplies to outreach centers. 

• Work on how to reduce redundancy of HFE pharmaceutical list in order to reduce handling cost and increase quality in-patient care.

• To prepare annual report detailing consumption of pharmaceutical drugs at AAFH and outreach centers and accordingly prepare annual budget.

• Timely follow-up and check the quality, quantity, expiry date and storage condition of all drugs before and after purchase.

• To collect and appropriately record receipt and issuance vouchers of pharmaceutical drugs, supplies by cost center, provide to data entry clerk and check input on a weekly basis

Reports to: The Medical Director of the HFE

Job Requirements

Education Requirement

• Minimum Bachelor of Degree in  Pharmacy from Recognized Institute

Work Experience

• 5 years  and above at least 3 years as a head of Pharmacy Unit

Skills and Abilities

• Good computer skills and knowledge of MS Office software

• Excellent leadership, energy and interpersonal skills.

• Commitment to excellent client care and the delivery of client-focused services.

• Team player who accepts constructive criticism and is comfortable with giving constructive criticism.

• Ability to work under pressure
