Chemonics International seeks experienced professionals for the USAID Global Health Supply Chain Program - Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) project. GHSC-PSM in Ethiopia will serve as vehicle through which USAID will procure and furnish health commodities, provide technical assistance to improve the country’s management of health supply chain and pharmacy service activities, and collaborate with key international stakeholders to support global and local health initiatives.
The short term Knowledge Management and Communications (KMC) Advisor is responsible for the implementation of Knowledge Management and Communications activities to promote effective documentation and visibility of the project's lessons, results, and achievements. The KMC specialist will primarily capture, review, synthesize, and disseminate evidence and best practices to inform intervention design, monitoring, evaluation, and learning in the project.

The Global Health Supply Chain – Procurement and Supply Management Ethiopia
Background
The purpose of the Global Health Supply Chain– Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) Ethiopia Program is to ensure uninterrupted supplies of health commodities in support of United States Government (USG)-funded public health initiatives in Ethiopia. The project provides direct procurement and supply chain management support to the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), the President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI), Population and Reproductive Health, and the USAID Office of Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition. In supporting USG-funded global health activities, GHSC-PSM will develop and manage a wide array of services for health commodity procurement and related systems strengthening technical assistance encompassing different elements of a comprehensive supply chain management initiatives in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MOH), Ethiopia Pharmaceuticals Supply Services (EPSS) and other partner organizations
GHSC-PSM Ethiopia supports country strategies and priorities that fall under the following three project objectives:
Health commodity procurement and logistics,
Systems strengthening technical assistance, and
Global and local collaboration to improve the long-term availability of health commodities.
Purpose
The Knowledge Management and Communications (KMC) Advisor is responsible for the implementation of Knowledge Management and Communications activities to promote effective documentation and visibility of the project's lessons, results, and achievements. The KMC specialist will primarily capture, review, synthesize, and disseminate evidence and best practices to inform intervention design, monitoring, evaluation, and learning in the project.
Moreover, the project will regularly prepare updates for site-level support, pharmaceuticals management information systems, and other key interventions and share the findings with USAID, RHBs, and the MOH to facilitate collaboration among partners, learn lessons, and adapt implementation based on evidence.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
In collaboration with the project KMC team members and other technical staff, the KMC advisor will carry out the following key responsibilities.
Support documentation and dissemination of the project contributions such as site-level support results and long-lasting insecticide nets (LLINs) distribution campaign progress update.
Set a process to identify a learning agenda and actively engage in the creation of a learning site for its comprehensive approach in three selected zones.
Produce success stories to enhance project visibility.
Participate in documenting lessons learned and facilitating project activities after-action reviews.
Support technical teams to produce technical briefs, and abstracts.
Participate in different events to assist communications of the project activities.
Participate in the production of quality publications including design, editorial, and branding
Assist technical units in the preparation of presentations and messages tailored to the needs of audiences
Duration of assignment: August 2022 – November 2022
Level of Effort and Location: The period for KMC consultancy will be four months (August – November 2022). The KMC advisor will be based in Addis Ababa, with up to 50% travel to field visits.
Supervision: The Knowledge Management and Communications Advisor will report directly to the GHSC-PSM Ethiopia’s Monitoring and Evaluation, Knowledge Management and Communications (M&E KMC) Director.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Journalism, Development Communication, health communication, and international relations, Knowledge Management, or related field with extensive experience in information, behavioral, and/or communications sciences
At least seven years of professional work experience in communications, knowledge management/information management, editorial services, design
Excellent writing skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information in a clear, compelling language without technical jargon.
Ability to organize, present, and disseminate information, and to draft clear and concise documents with minimal supervision
Demonstrated experience in the production of print and digital communications content and dissemination strategies. Ability to identify, gather, and prepare stories of impact for digital and print channels, using evidence, data, and human-interest stories.
Experience with public health communications and relevant technical areas preferred.
Working knowledge of online platforms and social media.
Experience with desktop publishing applications including Adobe highly desirable.
Photography and data visualization skills are very helpful.
Ability to maintain a flexible work manner and schedule
Ability to work in a team setting
