Summary

The Project Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the overall implementation of child protection in emergency interventions. He/she will ensure strengthening of short and medium-term prevention and protection response services within targeted Woredas selected kebeles. The Prevention initiatives will address underlying norms and dynamics that contribute to violence and strengthening of institutional capacity for coordination, referral pathway and survivor-centered response activity across the implementing woredas. The Project Coordinator will hold the overall responsibility of coordinate the formulation, design, planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the project with a focus on project key areas as well as coordinating the project intervention supervising and monitoring zonal project coordinators, project and   finance officer and overall project accomplishment.  

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop detailed annual work and budget plans based on approved overall work plan. Support development and timely submission of work plans and budgets from implementing partners.

  • Develop schedules for project activities listed in the annual work plans to ensure all activities are completed on time; ensure timely and duly management of the project and implementation of all activities in accordance with the rules and regulation of donors with efficiency and transparency.

  • Prepare and adopt manual that will utilized for the project for training and staff use.

  • Lead overall project management (liaison, coordination, briefing, forward planning) with relevant federal Ministries: regional and zonal level government sector. Internally with the various relevant staff at ChildFund as well as Tesfabrhan team

  • Oversee the work of the Zonal Project Coordinators and Officers to ensure that planned activities are implemented in accordance with the terms of the project and ensuring that project are safe in line with the Do No Harm principle. Such as staff capacity should be built, risk assessments conducted, mitigation measures developed, while ensuring community participation.

  • Actively facilitate information-sharing, collaboration, and cross-learning processes

  • Manage, monitor, and guide contracted consultants/partners to work on the activities and objectives listed in the work plan and ensure that their work is conducted in a timely manner and with high quality.

  • Together with the M&E team and technical staff, monitor project activities according to the project monitoring framework and implementation plan.

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual activity progress and financial reports and ensure the accuracy and timely submission of these reports to Child Protection and Advocacy Specialist/ Senior Emergency Program Specialist

  • Developing TORs and recruiting consultants to conduct work on specific activities and objectives in line with the rule and regulation of organization with Procurement team

  • Working with the zonal project coordinator and project officer to monitor project funds, ensuring the funds are used for the proper purposes, proper activities, and with the

  • efficiency and transparency.

  • Conduct and/or organize TOT and other trainings to project staff and sector offices as planned.

  • Ensure the signing of safeguarding policy, PSEA and staff Codes of Conduct by all the people working on the project that include specific measures.

  • Organize regular team meetings to review and plan project activities and capture best practice

  • Establish a robust coordination channel and community compliance mechanism [CCM] with the mandated sector offices, partners, and community representatives to monitor and manage the progress of project implementation

  • Develop and maintain project reports, periodical progress updates, and minutes of meetings timely manner

  • Participate in field visits to monitor and evaluate the progress of the project

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years of relevant practical experience out of which two years in managing, in INGO, government or similar organizations. Field level experience is an advantage

  • Knowledge and experience of working partner organization, communities & local government authorities

  • Strong decision-making ability and ability to work independently and under pressure.

  • Excellent Project Management skill

  • Extensive experience in Gender-based violence and related areas, program/project development, and management in an emergency context are required.

  • Proven experience in designing and implementing GBV training for a variety of stakeholders.

  • Direct case management and experience working with children, women, and adolescents is an asset.

  • Extensive training in the fields of child protection, gender-based violence, psycho-social support, Psychosocial First Aid, positive parenting, CSSG, child and women friendly space, case management, and application of international technical guidelines and standards in Child Protection and GBV would be an asset.

  • Strong report writing skill (with clear and well-argued project reports)

  • Good technical knowledge of policy and practice in the field of emergency, 

  • A good understanding of development issues and the policy context in Oromia Region and Ethiopia in general.

  • An understanding of child development and emergency response mechanisms

  • Experience in monitoring and evaluating child projection programs in emergency, transition, and development context

  • Fluent in speaking and writing English language; working local language is also required.

Education & Experience Required

  • BA/BSC /MA in Gender and social development, Sociology, social work, sociology, psychology, public health, and relevant fields of social sciences

  • Master’s degree in the field is advantageous.
