Given the continued growth and future expansion of NIGAT, the following opportunities exist. 

Purpose of the Job

The EDSM will have the responsibility to identify the long and short-term goals of the company and develop strategies  to accomplish  these goals  and plays  a key role in strategy formulation, collaborates with both internal and external stakeholders, and leads cross-functional teams in the development of  business- wide operational strategies

Main Duties and Responsibilities 

Strategy Development

  • Lead the development of NIGAT Corporate Strategy

  • Support Industry Groups/Business Units in developing capacity for strategy design

  • Scan environment to assess emerging trends, issues, and risks from a medium to long term time perspective (e.g., 1-3 years)

  • Participate   in development   of   the overall   strategic   direction, goals   and objectives of NIGAT and its business units

  • Lead development of business unit’s strategy under each product group

Create and Oversee NIGAT Strategy Management System

  • Help the executive team select performance targets and identify required strategic initiatives

  • Initiate and administer NIGAT strategic performance reporting system

  • Create and enforce uniform organization-wide metrics to maintain integrity of performance data

  • Incorporate changes in corporate strategy into all documents and tools that NIGAT uses to track strategic performance— These may be strategy maps and the Balanced Scorecard or any other equivalent strategy monitoring tools.

Align NIGAT

  • manage organizational alignment with NIGAT corporate strategy.

  • Institutionalize the use of a common strategic performance reporting system by all units

  • Ensure that business unit and support unit strategies are linked to one another and to NIGAT’s Corporate strategy

Communicate the Strategy

  • Through newsletters, CEO speeches, group e-mails, annual meetings, and other channels, communicate NIGAT corporate strategy, targets, and initiatives to the workforce

  • Coordinate with HC to ensure that education about the strategy management process is included in training program

Review Strategy

  • Organize and lead monthly strategy-review meetings, briefing the CEO about strategic concerns in advance

  • Document needed adjustments to strategy and execution identified during meetings and follow up to ensure that changes are implemented.

  • Help the chief financial officer prepare strategy updates for board meetings

Refine Strategy

Evaluate new strategic ideas coming from within NIGAT and convey promising ones to senior management

Manage Strategy Initiatives

  • Manage strategy-related initiatives that cross unit and functional lines, to ensure they receive sufficient resources and attention

  • Monitor   progress of   all strategic   initiatives   and report on them to top management

  • Consult with Key Strategy Support Functions

Planning and Budgeting

Work with the finance department to ensure that corporate and unit budgets reflect those established during the strategic planning process and that each unit’s budget includes resource needed for the unit’s contribution to cross functional strategic initiatives

Human resource alignment

See   that   the   HR    function    manages   employee    incentives, competency development programs, and annual performance reviews in a manner consistent with corporate and business unit strategic objectives

Knowledge management

Coordinate with the Training and Learning Director or Chief Human Capital to ensure that the best practices and ideas most critical to NIGAT corporate strategy are shared throughout NIGAT and its business units

Performance Management

  • Ensure performance objectives of the Office of Strategy Management are clearly defined and articulated; ensure performance reviews are completed in a timely and comprehensive manner; provide ongoing informal performance feedback

  • Ensure positive incentives are in place for good performance; ensure system is fair and equitable

People Management

  • Guide the development team capabilities of Office of Strategy Management at both the Corporate Office and at business units; build a culture that supports the vision and corporate strategy; lead by example

  • Attract and retain quality Management personnel under your supervision through effective communications, sound processes, and structure

  • Develop and manage the Management team under your supervision by recruiting, cross-training, coaching and mentoring

  • Coach team members and provide ongoing feedback to ensure achievement of business, departmental and individual goals

  • Assign   high   level   strategy experts to directly   support Industry Groups and business units.

  • Responsible for succession planning each of the product group and business unit’s management team

Teamwork

  • Encourage   productivity, innovation, teamwork, and   a   high     level     of professionalism within Office of the Strategy Management similar positions held at each business unit; lead by example

  • Work effectively with industry groups and related business units to ensure that strategy management system is part of a core management system of NIGAT.

  • Foster a cohesive team environment within your office and across NIGAT as a whole; encourage and ‘recruit’ staff to participate in the overall NIGAT vision

  • Encourage and reward the sharing   of   knowledge   and expertise   within each product group / NIGAT.

  • Participate in knowledge transfer; ensure timely and accurate communication throughout NIGAT Corporate Office.

Job Requirements

Qualifications Required 

Education

  • BA/BSc/MSc/MA/PhD in Strategy Management, Management, Development Studies, and related fields.Experience

  • 8 years  for PhD, 10  for MA/MSc or 12 years for BA/BSc  of  experience  out of  which 4  Years’  Experience  as Strategy Management Consultant or as higher-level member within a reputable business organization.

Skills

  • Proven experience in developing effective collaboration and partnerships with private sector, government, civil society organizations, and stakeholders. Strong teamwork and collaboration skills Leadership and communication skill People management. Deep knowledge in strategy management.
