Job Description

I.  Job Summary

 The Menstrual Health and Hygiene Development Impact Bond (MHH-DIB) is a project financed by the French Development Agency (AFD) and BNPP and is implemented by CARE in partnership with Pro Pride in Adama City and the peripheries.  The intervention will cover three dimensions of MHH:  (i) advocacy and awareness-raising on menstruations and related issues, (ii) provision of high-quality menstrual protection products (iii) installation and maintenance of sanitary facilities adapted to MHH.  In addition to the awareness raising and demand creation activities, the project will work with schools and education offices of Adama town and Adama woreda to improve access to sanitary facilities in selected schools.

 The intern will work on Communications /support in implementing Communications related activities of the project.  This includes collection, write-up, edit and dissemination of messages to different target audience. 

    II. Responsibilities                                                                                              

  • Collect and write-up stories from the field along with photos

  • Develop message for social media

  • Regularly monitor messages and feedbacks on social media and update

  • Design/develop different communication materials such as leaflets and posters.

  • Support the project team during mass and targeted awareness raising activities

  • Support in data collection during research works and extraction of learning,

  • Support the project team to track data required for monitoring, database, and regular supervision.

  • Prepare and submit quarterly activity plans

  • Prepare and submit monthly progress report to the supervisor.

  • Prepare and submit interim updates and reports as instructed by the supervisor

  • Prepare and submit learnings and report from supportive supervision that will be organized by Pro Pride.

  • Handle other activities as assigned by the supervisor

III.             Gender

  • Understanding and demonstrated commitment to the importance of gender, youth, and social inclusion issues.

  • Demonstrated commitment to principles of Gender Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and PSEAH (safeguarding), as evidenced in previous positions / programming.

Job Requirements:

Educational background:

  • BA degree in Communications, Language and Literature, Journalism, or any other related fields with zero-years of experience

Desired Technical Skills

  • Computer skill preferably graphic support software’s such as publisher, InDesign, Photoshop.

  • English writing skills

  • Knowledge of Oromia Language is advantageous
