Job Description

We are looking for someone who is a creative copywriter to be responsible for researching, writing, editing, and delivering compelling, creative, and original news, spotlight, and creative stories on deadline. The role will also contribute to special features and stories, including video scripts, blog posts, and newsletters. The Content Writer and Research Assistant will create impactful and compelling content for the viewers in our diaspora and local communities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

- Edit and proofread copy as needed 

- Pitch and write accurate, well-researched text stories – including news of the day and features – under tight deadlines

- Cover breaking news with quick, concise analysis

- Maintain an active social media presence to promote original content and the work of your colleagues

- Follow trending topics on digital platforms, including Google, Twitter, and Facebook, to gather story ideas and create headlines that optimize reach.

- Assist with research and writing up articles and blogs for a health-based platform.

- Excellent English and  communication skills

- Wide vocabulary

- Well-sourced and able to identify and cultivate new sources

- Self-motivated, team-oriented, and work well under pressure

- Understanding of SEO

- Proven experience as a copywriter or related role

- Excellent time-management and organizational skills

- Edit and proofread copy as needed

- Attention to grammar, punctuation, and spelling

- Must be able to check grammatical, punctuation, sentence fragments, and other errors so that it's easily readable and without loss of meaning.

- Collaborate with Digital Marketing manager to use SEO principles to maximize copy's reach
