Job Description

Job Purpose
is responsible the entire business aspect and operation of the Farms, manages and coordinate  different sections of the farm operation such as plantation, Crops, Irrigation, Research and Development, Workshop and General and maintenance under the instruction of farm manager

Responsibilities

  •  Plan finances and production of Crops, and maintain farm progress against budgeted and parameters as per Gibe Agro industry’s goals and targets.

  • Overlook and arrange maintenance and repair of farm buildings, machinery and equipment and obtain farm inventory

  • Participate in technical aspect of the hiring and evaluating candidates of Farm Operation team along with Farm and agricultural Department.

  •  Maintain and monitor quality of yield in arable crops.

  • Study and react based on implications of weather and prepare contingency plans.

  •  Ensure products are ready for deadlines for auctions and markets.

  •  Ensure farm activities comply with Gibe Agro industry’s policy and government regulations.

  • Monitor and manage animal health and welfare if any.

  • Monitor and record all yields and land use to meet Gibe Agro industry’s goals and objectives.

  • Protect environment and maintain biodiversity.

  • Direct and plan activities of farmers in term of plant, cultivating, and harvesting specialty crops and applying the knowledge of growth characteristics of individual crop, and soil, climate, and market condition Maintain well the quality the crops production.

  • Implement techniques of plantation, cultivation, and irrigation and harvesting of crops.

  •   Implement techniques of fertilization, herbicides, and pesticides as international standard method and environmental friendly.

  • Demonstrates and explains farm work techniques and safety regulations

  • Prepare budget in conjunction with yield of each field, to operate the farm for each cropping period.

  • Responsible in a different array of tasks which include leadership of people, organizational structuring, human relations, training, work planning, work simplification and methods for improvement.

Job Requirements

  • Education: BA/MA degree in agricultural studies.

    Experience: Six year farm experience and at least 3 years’ experience as Farm supervisor in agriculture field.


Competencies, Skills and Knowledge

  • Excellent knowledge of the Agriculture industry.

  •  Knowledge in plants, vegetables, fruits and harvesting.

  •  Ability to supervising and run the Farm activities in all areas.

  •  Ability to meet targeted production and growth projections.

  • Excellent knowledge in farm equipment’s and machinery.

  • Ability to resolve problems or situations requiring the exercise of good judgment.

  •  Computer literate in Microsoft Office package.

  •  Ability to speak read and write Afan Oromo, Amharic and English fluently.

  • Ability to operate farm machinery and other related.
