The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was founded in 1970 through the initiative of the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations seconded by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. The Institute got its name from the Norwegian physician, Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, who first described the leprosy bacillus (Mycobacterium leprae). AHRI is a biomedical, Research studies, Vaccine and Traditional Medicine research institute that works in developing tools for research studies, Vaccine, prevention, control and treatment of neglected tropical disease (NTD) and other diseases of public healthy importance through applied, basic biomedical research, research studies and training.

      Assistant Researcher

No of Positions: 3

Main duties and responsibilities;

 ●       Develop data collection instruments (IDI/FGD/KII guides), and training materials

●       Perform qualitative data collection, transcription, and translation about lived experiences of CL patients visiting inpatient, outpatient departments in health facilities.

●       Develop guides for community engagement and community of practice in research projects.

●       Conduct quality control and consistency checking procedures periodically when the data collection is on progress

●       Communicate with the data manager and project coordinator for data quality control regularly

●       Contribute to the analysis of patient reported outcome measures and patient lived experiences.

●       Assist in dissemination of findings to policy makers, other stakeholders, and academic audiences

●       Contribute to preparation of journal articles and conference reports

●       Conduct supportive supervision to support field data collectors.

●       Coordinate implementation of the project alongside the project coordinator

●       Assist the health social science and public health team in implementation and with follow-up of clinical and social science research-related activities.

●       Ensure effective communication between the multi-disciplinary SHARP research team

●       Coordinate the SHARP team in other thematic area in achieving project milestone as assigned by senior staffs

●       Coordinate other related duties as assigned by the projectHRI is seeking to appoint professionals with the following positions. 

Job Requirements

 Qualification & Experiences:

 MA in Sociology, Anthropology, , MPH, MSc in Epidemiology,

Experiences:

●       Minimum of 2 years experiences of work in qualitative study in the field of health

●       Demonstrated research communication and interpersonal communication skills

Desired Competencies

●       Knowledge of different data management software and Microsoft excel applications

●       Practical MaxQDA/ Nvivo software experience has additional advantage

●       Knowledge of health-related quality of life measures

●       Fluency in English communication (spoken & written)
