Major duties and responsibilities 

  • Lead and engage in the coordination of baseline and evaluation surveys, support evaluation, and other research activities, including engaging in ToR preparation, selection of consultants, review of evaluation design and data collection methodology, data quality assurance, data analysis, involvement of stakeholders and dissemination plan. And ensuring assessment findings are documented, analyzed, and reported.

  • Ensure and support the Project coordinators, MEAL focals and HEA sectors technical team to ensure the design and development of evidence-based project achievements and impact reporting.

  • Lead and engage to conduct multi-sector need assessments, PDMs, onsite monitoring and evaluation.

  • Organize the planning for project data quality audits and monitor and coordinate routine data quality audits conducted in different sites, compile results at the level of a project and develop actions plans to implement corrective measures. Grants and Donor Management

  • Implement accountability mechanisms at field level, e.g. complaints and feedback response mechanisms –assessment, design, implementation, and review. Implement activities to raise awareness of prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse and handling of serious complaints in line with child safeguarding policy.

  • Work closely with field project staff to ensure that they implement as per the expected quality standards and checklists of each technical approach.

  • Lead and engage the regular monitoring and accountability (CFRM database) reporting and communicate effectively to the Humanitarian Accountability Coordinator and MEAL Coordinator.

  • Promote learning in the project, particularly on issues of program quality, and contribute to quality assurance of projects. Regularly produced and report on best practices and case studies; ensure new analyses and information is available.

Job Requirements

Required Professional Experience

  • Previous work experience at least 5 years in Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning Areas within the development / humanitarian sector

  • Proficiency and experience with mobile data collection such as Kobo, CommCare, and ODK Collect are crucial as well as proficiency with Microsoft Excel, SPSS, SATA or other similar software.

  • Strong capacity building and facilitation skills 

  • Experience of working in humanitarian and development program 

  • Experience developing and improving monitoring and data collection systems

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching

  • Experience of representation and ability to represent WVE effectively in external forums.

  • Ability to write clear and well-argued assessment and project reports

Job Requirements

Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification/Qualifications/

BSc/BA Degree or MA in Social Sciences, Economics, Statistics or a related field. Additional certificate on M&E database systems is an asset

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications

Demonstrated ability to transfer knowledge to diverse audiences through training, mentoring, and other formal and non-formal methods together with strong presentation and reporting skills.

Self-motivated with excellent organization, planning, and analytical skills - able to work without close supervision, including prioritizing work and multi-tasking. Very high attention to detail, with experience refining and editing content.

Advanced writing skills in English. Experience in humanitarian emergencies 

Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement

The position requires a willingness for  frequent travels to  all humanitarian response operational areas

The duty station of the post is based in Addis Ababa

Language Requirements: English and local languages
