Key responsibility
Provides leadership to the LWF Peace Building component of the above mentioned project in the Gursum Woreda and works closely with the Woreda sector offices to ensure mutual accountability;
Together with the Project Team Leader, he/she is responsible for the planning, supervision, implementation, monitoring and documentation of the gender and peace building activities in accordance with LWF policies, priorities, procedures and guidelines;
Ensure that all activities related to gender and peace building are timely implemented according to the project implementation plans;
Facilitate peace-building sessions between the two neighboring regions (Oromia and Somali) with religious leaders, government officials and community leaders;
Conduct/facilitate conflict resolution trainings for government officials, religious leaders, and other cultural leaders in Gursum Woreda;
Train community leaders, religious leaders and influential persons on inclusiveness and non-discrimination aimed at enhancing cohesiveness and peaceful coexistence in the community;
Strong knowledge and experience working with gender issues, women self-help groups, IGA and value chain development;
Deep knowledge in rural communities; particularly with rural women;
Ensures gender mainstreaming in all of the project activities;
Conduct gender and needs assessments and familiar with the tools and methods for the assessment;
Design and disseminate IEC materials to enhance awareness raising on gender, conflict resolution and peaceful coexistence;
Reviews training needs of staff and others involved in gender and peace building;
Maintains a close relationship with Woreda Administration and other local government departments with regards to operations, planning and implementation;
Represent LWF at inter agency meetings on gender and peace building and any bilateral meetings with other agencies fostering good working relationships with these organizations by sharing learning and working closely on activities;
Fulfills any other such duties as may be assigned by the Project Team Leader and the Regional Coordinator;
Good skills in reporting and monitoring and ensures the timely, accurate and relevant reports are submitted according to the grant agreements;
Arrange/request procurement of supplies needed for gender and peace building activities
Required Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor Degree in Social Sciences especially Gender studies, Peace-Building, Conflict studies or other relevant disciplines from recognized University/College
Minimum of three years relevant experience preferable in gender and conflict resolution issues
Additional requirements
Strong communication skill in English (written and oral)
Ability to interact with people
Other job related trainings
Oromiffa language is essential
Previous related experience in NGO set up is advantageous
