JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direct supervision of FSA Third Party Monitoring Project Coordinator in the Semera Field office , the Woreda Monitoring Assistant (wMAs)  will support the monitoring and verification of WFP supported nutrition intervention implemented by FSA in cooperation with cooperating partners (CPS; GoE and NGOs) in Afar Region.

The woreda Field Monitoring Assistant (wMA) through the following tasks will contribute to strengthen the skills and build capacities of cooperating partners project staff at woreda/food distribution centre level, through mentoring, coaching and on-the-job training:

MAJOR  RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

  • Support in monitoring and supervision of WFP nutrition interventions implemented by CPs (Govt. and NGOs) at woreda level.

  • Prepare a monitoring plan (MP) in line with WFP and FSA requirements and adapt monitoring plan to the needs in close consultation with WFP Sub-Office and FSA field office in Semera

  • Execute the monitoring plan and conduct quality monitoring, distribution monitoring/site visits and beneficiary contact monitoring as per the set schedule

  • Provide  report of the monitoring findings using the WFP standard monitoring checklist through online tool installed in tablets, upload and share with WFP office

  • Prepare and submit weekly, monthly and quarterly report as required to WFP Sub-Office and FSA field office

  • Maintain a database that contains all Food Distribution Centers, distribution monitoring and post-distribution monitoring information.

  • Maintain close coordination with WFP nutrition focal point at area/sub office level and FSA project coordinator and adherence to follow the jointly developed weekly/monthly monitoring plan for monitoring the nutrition  interventions,

  • Provide assistance in food storage, reporting and food assistance/distribution to beneficiaries at woreda/FDCs in Afar region of the specified woredas.

  • Support identifying the programmatic issues and establish coordination mechanism at woreda level with Govt. and NGOs in fostering efficient implementing the WFP operations, discussions on gaps identified and options for improvement in services delivery at woreda/FDCs level.

  • Report to FSA Third party monitoring project coordinator and WFP Logistics and Programme team on food quality issues (spoilage, infestation, damages) at CP warehouses.

  • Capacity building of CP staff on waybills receipt information completion and certification with signature and stamp including capacity building of CP staff on warehouse management and commodity management.

  • Ensure rational and responsible use of project assets (tablets, GPS helmets etc.) allocated to efficiently develop his/her tasks.

  • Attend progress-update meetings on monthly and quarterly basis through virtual or face to face arrangements with WFP and FSA staffs

  • Abide by the organization Safeguarding policy and Code of Conduct.

Employment Type:  Contract, (1 year)

Job Requirements

EDUCATION/TRAINING

  • BA/BSC  Nutrition, Statistics, Economics, Health  and social sciences,

EXPERIENCE

  • At least 2 years of experience in a similar role, NGO experience is advantageous.

  SKILLS

  • Literacy in Computer especially Microsoft Word and Excel. 

  • Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Afar language.

  • Official Driving license for motor bikes is required

  • Experience on report writing

  • Practical experience on project monitoring and data collection and analysis

  • Experience on provision of capacity building support/training at community level
