We are pleased to announce the following vacancy for a Due Diligence Officer within the Legal and Risk Function in Ethiopia. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below.

Detailed Description

Reporting to the EHOD – Compliance and Risk, the position holder will be responsible for the collection of vendor/client/property/third party documents and data, risk analysis and assessment within the KYC (Know your Client) Due Diligence procedure applicable for new client onboardings, land acquisition and vendor/third party due diligence evaluations.   

Job Responsibilities

  • Performing Risk and Compliance research and analysis (such as PEPs, Adverse Information, etc.) supported by Safaricom tools, as well as using public sources to provide a first risk assessment on complex files.

  • Coordinating the onboarding of third parties including business partners, customer, vendors and other third parties including documentation collection and analysis (including tax documents) and driving the whole KYC/Due Diligence procedure.

  • Comply with relevant government regulations and Safaricom Ethiopia’s internal guidelines and policies.

  • Validation of third-party profiles which do not require Compliance involvement.

  • Updating of the third-party profile and re-assessment of third party risk level within the periodical and ad-hoc recertification during third party lifetime.

  • Conduct Due Diligence of customer/supplier profile for onboarding, periodic review and trigger event review.

  • Identify and verify KYC documents and client statistic data.

  • Assess and evaluate land ownership documents and risk assess the transaction.

  • Engage with third parties to provide incomplete CDD information and documentation within service level.

  • Provide written advice to business on identified red flags and monitor and guide business decisions based on risk levels.

Job Requirements

 Qualification

  •  Bachelor’s Degree in Banking and Finance, Business Administration, Compliance, Legal or other related disciplines.

  • Relevant qualification in CAMS, AAMLP Core Level will be an advantage.

  • At least 1 to 3 years working experiences in Banking or Finance or other related fields.

  • Knowledgeable of Microsoft software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and willing to accept challenges.
