Job Summary
SYS| Shayashone is currently seeking highly qualified applicants for a Business Development Officer position which of the job descriptions and competency requirements are listed below.
Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct agribusiness value chain research
Prepare business proposals, concepts, and presentations for pitching
Develop proposals in response to calls
Design different agribusiness research initiatives
Conducts various action research and data collection within the agribusiness sector.
Responsible for analysis and report writing
Present findings and recommendations to clients
Participate in agribusiness value chain and sector development programs
Business and Sector Opportunity Studies
Develop proposals for business and sector opportunity studies for clients.
Undertake studies as per proposals.
Conducting market research to identify new business opportunities
Develop high-level professional reports and presentations that exceed client’s expectation
Track and research emerging issues within sectors and value chains of interest for the company
Research and identify new business opportunities relevant for the company to focus.
Promoting and facilitating potential agribusiness value chains
Business Networking
Attend various events to generate leads and prospects
Scanning feasible business opportunities for project acquisition
Research potential calls for proposals online and seek out the appropriate contact
Develop and pitch ideas for potential partners and customers
Analysing customer feedback data to determine whether customers are satisfied with company products and services
Develop and sustain solid relationships with company stakeholders and customers.
Coordination and Events
Coordinate with appropriate stakeholders in all aspects of project planning, monitoring, and implementation
Assist in organizing and facilitating training and events donor and high-level field visit programs, partners meetings, quarterly/annual partners review meetings and workshops

Duty station: Addis Ababa, with frequent field travel to different parts of Ethiopia

Reports to: Consultancy Manager
Education, Qualifications, Experience & other knowledge
Masters in Economics, Agri-economics, Agri-Business Management, Developmental Studies, Agribusiness, and marketing or any other relevant discipline.
Good understanding of Ethiopian agriculture and agribusiness sector
Must have 2 and above years of experience in a similar or related position and organization.
Experience with grassroots NGOs/projects/communities in Ethiopia.
Proficiency in Spoken and Witten English is a must

Ability to think outside the box and generate new ideas or ways of doing things
Strong presentation, influence, and persuasion skills
Outstanding skills in planning, organizing, and reporting
Ability to perform under stress with minimal supervision and able to handle multiple tasks at a time in a calm and organized manner.
Have an attitude of stimulating diversity and inclusiveness
Technical Competencies
Hands-on experience in research methods, applications, and data tools relevant for action and business research.
Outstanding quantitative and qualitative analytical skills with the ability to synthesize and generate decision recommendations out of data.
Competent in statistical analysis and interpretation of data for decision making
Hands-on in report writing and professional presentation
Sound understanding of working practices in PLC
