HOPE International Development Agency (HIDA) is an international NGO that works to help overlooked communities living in extreme poverty. It is registered with the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia – Authority for Civil Society Organization.

HIDA would like to hire a competent financial officer

The finance officer is responsible for ensuring the health and effectiveness of HIDA’s financial system including internal control, budget planning and monitoring activities, internal and external audit and financial reports, work in close collaboration with the management and departments of HIDA to ensure that efficient financial systems are in place.

More specifically, the Finance Officer is responsible: 

• Plans and manage the finance of HIDA, including planning, budgeting, financial performance management and financial reporting.

• Develop Finance and other related policies and procedures in consultation with the Africa Director.

• Develops and/or monitors systems for enhancing organizational and donor compliance on financial, procurement and other related matters.

• Be responsible for overall financial planning, coordination and execution.

• Provides direct line management functions.

• Coordinates financial management issues in collaboration with other departments.

• Follows up all project finances are properly documented and file financial reports for all project activities. 

Accountable to: Africa Director

Duty Station: Addis Ababa with frequent travel to project site  

Employment type: One-year contract with possible extension after successful performance in the probation period

Job Requirements

Education and Experience

• B.A degree in Accounting.

• Knowledge of accounting practices and principles including IPSAS.

• Knowledge of applicable laws, codes, and regulations both locally and internationally.

• Knowledge and experience of related computer applications.

• A minimum of 4 years’ experience in accounting and finance in an international NGO.
