The beverages green field project is located in Oromia Regional State in West Shewa Zone on the outskirt of Ginchi town while the project office is located at Elilly International Hotel new building 10th floor Kazanchis, Finfinnee, Ethiopia.  The company will engage in producing quality alcoholic & non- alcoholic beer brands in the first phase while the 2nd phase expansion plan is to produce carbonated water, Juices and other portfolios. Hence, Kegna Beverages S.C. would like to invite competent and qualified candidates to apply for the following position: Technical manager

Position Summary: the Technical Manager is responsible to ensure effective delivery of projects and contracts through provision of high quality monitoring of project results to get ready the factory for operation /or production. The position holder shall supervise and inspect the erection, installation, testing and commissioning of the machinery and equipment. He /she is also required to act on any designs, ensure high quality design documentation and site works are carried out on time and under budget.  

Roles and Responsibilities: 

• Develop comprehensive plan for testing, commissioning and the beverages production – develop a comprehensive plan with strategies for testing, commissioning of the machinery and equipment.  

• Ensure timely execution of projects and contracts (Civil work, Infrastructure, Pre- Engineered Building erection, installation of machineries and technology, test and commissioning, etc.) 

• Supervise the erection, installation, testing and commissioning that is to be conducted by contractors according to specifications agreed;

• Provide and manage utility services such as Compressed air, Hot and cold water, Water, Electric power, lighting, ventilations, firefighting and safety system, Air conditioning, HVAC and ducting systems, sanitary drainage, waste management for the project implementation as per Contractors requirement agreed upon.

• Assist the project and logistics team in procurement of mechanical consumable parts, spare parts, welding gases such as oxygen, nitrogen, argon, acetylene etc. and additional equipment as deemed necessary;

• Assist in preparing and evaluation of tender documents of mechanical machinery and equipment on (specifications, BOQs, rates, test reports, etc.) ;

• Review and comment on mechanical systems design calculations, drawings and scope of works given by contractors;

• Follow up all works of contractors and responsible to request clarification for any deviations and poor performance seen.

• Carry out site inspections and prepare snag lists to be given to the project office that shall be handed over to contractor for correction work.

• After the contractor report on completion of installation of machinery and plant, inspect completion of installation of mechanical works as per the contract. 

• Prepare snag list for the status of completion of installation, report incomplete works, participate in the technical meetings and shall make sure the correction works are done to the requirement.

• Prepare design briefs and the design reports that address specific clients and stakeholder requirements and specifications as and when necessary,

• Review documents such as manuals, SOPs, specifications, drawings including built drawings of machinery and equipment’s supplied,

• Support the breweries and the Quality Team in any process changes, ensuring accurate documentation is prepared.

• Ensure complete full installation of the machines and start of first brew, utility equipment installation, bottle filling lines & keg line installation, etc. with the required quality.

• Analyze and decide on production components to purchase in line with production line capacity, safety and efficiency.

• Ensure that necessary spare parts and equipment are available to deal with mechanical issues on the production line.

• Keep records of all procedures, maintenance schedules, projects and risk assessments. All work must be well documented so other workers, departments and managers can understand the processes that must occur in the brewery.

• Ensure project work activities are in compliance with safety and health regulations.

• Performs other related duties assigned by immediate supervisor.

Job Requirements

Qualification & Experience

• MSc/BSc Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electromechanical, Electrical Engineering or other related field;

• More than 7/9 years proven experience in Beverages Manufacturing companies. Experience in Mechanical systems, design, supervision and installation for large-scale projects is advantageous.  

• In-depth knowledge of beer and the brewing industry is preferred.

• Ability to handle confidential information with care.

• Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.

• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

• Strong leadership and project management skills

• Strong problem-solving skills

• Strong planning and organizational skills

• Ability to work in a team environment

• Fluency in Afaan Oromoo Amharic and English is required.
