Lifewater International-Ethiopia hereby announces vacancy for the following position.                                 

Job Summary

Responsible for Afridev hand pump installations on new drilled boreholes, and on the repairs, maintenance, and rehabilitation of hand pumps installed on hand dug wells and existing boreholes, as they are including in the Master program plan.  The pump technician will also act as a driller’s helper to support all drilling and well construction activities. Work in collaboration with the Chief/lead Driller and Hydrogeologist to design the pump installation plan including depth of the pump cylinder, installation of connecting rod. Responsible for setting up pump test equipment, collecting measurements during the test, and analyzing data with support from the hydrogeologist.

Specific Duties:

• Carry out all heavy & minor maintenances of the drilling equipment backed by other crew members

• Carry out the maintenance of drilling equipment and all other related machinery

• Drive one of the vehicles, either work truck or light vehicle

• Request necessary spare parts to Lead Driller and Drilling Manager/Hydrogeologist required for the drilling machine and any other related equipment

• Keep maintenance log of the drilling machine and all other equipment

• Perform maintenance on time

• Assist the drilling team (working with other crew) during drilling job

• Perform instruction given from the Chief/lead driller

• Utilize the Lifewater Inventory System to check-out and check-in tools and equipment.

LOCATION: Hawassa ,Ethiopia(with regular travel to program areas)

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: One-year contract with possibility of extension and probation period of 60 working days

Qualifications

• Certificate in Auto mechanic from any recognized technical school

• Must have at least 10 years or above experience in maintenance work with drilling crew

• Valid Driver’s License and excellent driving record
