Job Description

1. About CVM

Comunità Volontari per il Mondo (CVM) is a non-profit making Christian Organization based in Ancona, Italy. It was founded in 1978 by a group of people who had deeply dedicated but also had the concern to help people in their struggle to exist in this world irrespective of who are and where they are from. Comunità Volontari per il Mondo (CVM) has been working in Ethiopia since 1995, focusing its work on water, hygiene, and sanitation, HIV prevention, and control through socio-health interventions, promotion of social policies and human rights, promoting social inclusion and minority rights, support for training and access to education, leather sector, socio-economic and micro-credit development, decent work for Domestic Workers and safe migration. CVM is being implemented diverse projects in different regions of Ethiopia.

2. Function of the Job

The role of the microcredit expert is to familiarize the beneficiaries with the functioning of the microcredit system and small business development. Provides guidance and training on how microcredit can be successfully implemented by uneducated women and how to measure their business development. 

3. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plans training paths for business plan development.

  • Identifies and coordinates trainers who will provide input during the training course

  • Directly manages part of the training course

  • Provides appropriate distance counseling to orient beneficiaries with respect to their know-how potential and guide them in identifying a micro-business strand

  • Evaluates the business plans developed by each person trained and offers suggestions on how to make them more profitable and avoid problems

  • Establishes with the trainer and Microcredit Office the small Self-Help groups and promotes understanding of their operation and the local savings system (ICUB)

  • Monitors, on a monthly basis, the progress of the micro-enterprises, the progress of the business and the progress of any profits.

  • Approves business plans, oversees the allocation and disbursement of grant funding for the promotion of the local savings system (ICUB) within Self-Help groups

4.  Other job-related duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • Master's degree in business administration and management or another relevant degree (at least 5 years)

  • At least 5 years of experience in microcredit-related activities, microenterprise consulting, business management, cooperative promotion, and Job Creation Office.

  • Experience in international cooperation projects preferred

  • Good written and spoken knowledge of Amharic and English languages

  • Competence in Excel and data analysis

  • Great analytical skills in budget development and financial management

  • Preferable knowledge/familiarity with the project's target area

  • Equal skills preference will be given to female candidates to facilitate the relationship with beneficiaries
