Job Description

Main duties:

  • Planning, monitoring, and coordinating field activities;

  • Conduct field visits;

  • Conduct field supervision of field activities utilizing the given tools;

  • Prepare reports and analyses;

  • Conduct data collection in the Project’s area;

  • Monitoring the data collection process;

  • Providing support for the distribution of therapeutic food in South Wollo intervention areas and health posts;

  • Plan, organize, and ensure that mapping activities are correctly done and that they meet the project’s expected targets;

  • strengthening the monitoring system for the distribution, storage, and management of therapeutic foods;

  • Supervise the correct use of Therapeutic food allocated in all the health facilities supported by the project and coordinate the orders made by the organization.

  • Strengthen communication and collaboration with woreda and LGAs to ensure ownership and sustainability of the program;

  • Remains up-to-date with latest methodologies, best practices and donor requirements in nutrition and other related health programs;

  • As part of the team, she/he will contribute to LVIA’s general Mission and Goals.

Responsibility

The nutrition Expert is responsible for the good implementation of project nutrition activities, as per workplan. He/she will coordinate directly and coordinate with the Project Coordinator-Livelihood Expert. He/she will also be co-responsible to maintain good relationships with government counterparts and other stakeholders at local and District level and, particularly, with National institutions at village, woreda, and zonal level.

  • First Supervisor: Project Coordinator

  • Second Supervisor: Country Director

Duty Station: Dessie

Project Area: Amhara Regional State, South Wollo Zone; Dessie Administration City; Dessie Zuria and Kallu Woredas

Availability: as soon as possible

Type of employment: 1year contract with the possibility of extension.

Salary: Negotiable (transport allowance + pension fund and medical insurance + plus other organization benefits will be included).

Job Requirements

Qualification and experience:

  • Good understanding of NGO development and emergency projects

  • Minimum of 3-4 (Three to four) years’ experience and at least three years in NGO project management

  • Bachelor's degree in health, nutrition or a related field

  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines and work both independently and cooperatively with team members

  • Good experience of working culture of the project site or other similar areas of Amhara regional state

  • Computer literate especially in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, power point)

  • Highly organized, efficient, and able to meet key deadlines

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;

  • Highly developed inter-personal skills/inter-cultural sensitivity;

  • Competence in IT;

  • Ability to work under pressure in harsh environment;

  • Languages: English and Amharic fluently spoken and written.
