Job Description
General Role of the Cost Accountant is to help plan, budget and monitor performance, set standard for unit costs and recommend appropriate cost-saving opportunities. The role is important in understanding where a company is spending money as well as which products, departments or services are most profitable and provide financial information for business decision.
Key responsibilities
Collecting and validating data to determine both fixed and variable costs of the business activity
Analyzing changes in product design, raw material supply, manufacturing methods or services provided, to determine effective costing methods,
Analyzing actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs
Recording cost information for use in controlling expenditures
Recommending cost-saving options
Performing ongoing reconciliations of various cost reports against software systems to ensure accuracy
Providing management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services
Initiating the month-end closing and reporting processes, which they in turn submit to management
Performing physical inventory inspections and monitoring inventory management information systems
Assist the production, planning and finance team in processing cost information,
Assist the finance head, and discharge any other tasks assigned.
Job Requirements
Minimum Education qualification and work experience
BA degree in accounting & Finance from recognized university,
Minimum 2+ years’ experience as a cost accountant, preferably in food manufacturing sector
Skills needed for this role
Excellent numeracy skills as well as having a logical and analytical thinker,
Ability to multi-tasking along with strong organizational skills,
Willing to learn and work in a team,
Excellent in basic computer skills, Peachtree Accounting software or any accounting software skill.
