Job Description
Imagine1day is an international NGO working in development and humanitarian sector. The organization has begun its operation in 2007.It is registered as Canadian Charity in Ethiopia with its main objective is all Ethiopian children will have access to quality education free of foreign aid. Currently, the organization has launched a two year My Home project from Sept 2022 as the 2nd phase. The project is primarily working on education, life skill development, ICT in schools and child protection in Oromia and SNNP regional states. It is a 2-year project which is expected to be implemented in 13 districts of Ethiopia.
Primary Duties or Responsibilities
Imagine1day is seeking to hire Senior Program Officer to oversee, support and coordinate the implementation of the My Home project. The officer has also direct responsibility for monitoring and evaluation; quality implementation, effective and efficient budgeting, and spending; as well as quality reporting fulfilling any necessary donor requirements. The officer is responsible for submitting a compiled quality report that would meet the requirement of the donor. He/she Works closely with the education specialist, the grant manager, the EiE and protection manager, and the national program director in carrying out his expected roles. Specifically, the officer has the following roles and responsibilities:
Ensure continual improvement of the project implementation to attain quality results and deliverables
Engage in continuous monitoring to ensure the maximum benefits for the project beneficiaries
Facilitate mid-term, and terminal evaluation for the project
Work closely with the program staff for the effective planning and implementation of the project
Follow up and support the day-to-day operations and support of the project staff to ensure the requirements of donors, the organization’s guidelines, and policies are met.
Coordinate reporting with implementing and field-level partners, specifically tracking deadlines; ensuring adherence to formats and requirements; ensuring reporting quality and accuracy; and periodic report writing, editing, and submission.
Control and monitor expenditure against budget (Budget Variance Analysis - BVA) and that the project progress is in accordance with grant agreements and is completed on time, on budget, with compliance, and with an emphasis on cost-effectiveness.
Take appropriate action for a budget under/overutilization identified through working closely with the project staff.
Follow up with the budget utilization and ensure that reports on the financial performance are up to the expectations of donors and other stakeholders.
Identify gaps and organize discussions in close consultation with all the supervisors in the organization for better project implementation.
Hold regular update meetings with all concerned stakeholders and guarantee that frequent and timely contact is maintained with respective project staff to ensure that the projects are implemented in accordance with their project plans
Attend monthly regional and Country Office meetings and provide necessary updates.
Support the documentation including data collection and reports for the development of case studies and success stories with the communication team.
Support proposal preparation in relation to the project as required
Follow up and involve actively in the preparation and timely submission of budget transfers and program amendments as necessary.
Provide training for the field-level project staff (zone, district, and site level staff) to ensure effective and efficient project implementation
Perform other duties as necessary as requested by his supervisor, the national program director and country director
Duration of Employment: One year with possibility of extension

Job Requirements
Education
A Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. development studies; business administration, project management, educational planning and management, social science disciplines (Master’s degree in English is most preferable).
At least 5 years of senior experience. Previous experience leading successful multi-million-dollar proposal writing and budget preparation (e.g., USAID, ECHO, EC, FCDO, DFATD, UN, etc.) has an advantage
Significant experience in government donor relations and fundraising.
A good understanding and preferably prior leadership experience in managing technical teams implementing Education, Child Protection, and WASH programs.
Experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in the Education, development and humanitarian field with at least 3 years’ experience in project implementation
A good understanding and preferably prior experience in managing and implementing projects mainly Education, Child Protection, and WASH projects.
Demonstrates commitment to strictly follow procedures, meet deadlines and work independently and cooperatively with team members.
Demonstrates ability to work effectively in a multicultural setting with a wide variety of partners and stakeholders.
An excellent proficiency in the English language.
Ability to review reports to ensure they are up to the required standard
