Paradise Valley College is a private an academic institution, which pioneering, since 2004 EC. Paradise Valley College is an accredited private higher educational institution granting  TVET/Level degrees programs and for the degree Master  of Business Administration, Accounting and Finance,   in graduate programs from HERQA- Higher education Relevance and Quality Agency.  Paradise Valley College located 250 kilometers, Southeast of Addis Ababa in Oromia Regional State, West Arsi Zone, and Shashemene Town, plus Paradise Valley College does two campuses at Adama and Dilla as well.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Vice academic Dean shall perform the following lists;

  • Responsible for entire delegation of College Dean in the main campuses/act every things as college dean in the absence of the college dean in main campus and in the presence as well.

  • Responsible for all follow up of the entire teachers evaluation performance, assigning, supervising, course load arrangement and assisting, students’ grade follow up as well.

  • Ensure all teachers are on their duties and using their time table in accordance and take action together with college dean for the delays of the course.

  • Listen grievances and compliant of the teachers, students in here at main campus and sites/branches likewise.

  • Prepare the academic calendar of the college each year in consultation with the Academic Dean and submit to the academic commission for approval.

  • Responsible for preparing plan, quarterly, yearly for overall concerning college schedule of time table, classes, registration issues, grades, and all the academic student issues concerning the college.

  • Responsible for the implementation of all the issue of the BA degree in all departments and TVET institute of academic requirements from government office of education incoming and outgoing issues.

  • Make schedules of the each semester and distribute a course load likewise, make an announcement for teachers as well as for the students in collaborating with the top management of the head office and AC meeting bases.

  • Attend regular meeting of the head office management and top management meeting with chairman of the board and president and implement all the decision made as it is confirmed by the minutes of the meeting. 

  • Take a necessarily disciplinary action in connection to the SA- Student Association representatives, Student Dean/student affairs together with the college president approval bases. 

  • Make a academic calendar activities schedules and plan, design/revise curriculum.   

  • Disseminate all very important information, decision that approved by the head office and management board to the main campus of each department heads/teachers and TVET coordinators, others campuses and sites as well. Disseminate all information, letters, and declaration from BLTO/Ministry of skills and labour as well as from any gov’t sector.

  • Make a meeting, with coordinators and subordinating staffs as well if it is necessary.

  • Delegate personnel in the absence of him/her at AC meeting as well as a head office.

  • Attend a training at BLTO/Ministry of Skills and Labour, all concerned sectors i.e. Ministry of Health, HERQA/FDRE Education and Training Authority, Ministry of Labour and Skills, EPHEVETIA, and others stakeholders and forward to the college management.

  • Administers oversees on the teachers, instructors of the college the proper utilization of learning and teaching.

  • Ensures that rules and regulations of the college are well known and implemented by the teachers and students.

  • Creates safe working relationships within the students and teachers 

  • Promotes a good image of the college with clients, providing appropriate and full information on the activities of the college connected to academic issues.

  • Recommend a performance appraisal evaluation bases the strong instructors and teachers to the college.

  • Responsible for the implementation of the rules and regulations laid down by the board.

  • Takes appropriate actions based on the rules and regulations of the college to the subordinating contract and per timers teachers by reporting to the HRM of the college.

  • Represents the college and makes agreements on behalf of it.

  • Studies and attempts to identify and improve the shortcomings of the college.

  • Studies the progress made in the development of the staff.

  • Oversees the research activities, and provides necessary advice upon the academic performance of the teachers and instructors collaborating with immediate supervisor.

  • Ensures the standard of academic excellences on researches, seminars, conference and other services of the college next to the “ Quality Education for all”

  • Submits necessary report to the HERQA as well as to other concerned bodies, as required in the absence of the College Dean and president only their approval bases.

  • Monitors that students moral and disciplines go in line with the rules and regulations of the college.

Report to: College Dean/ College President  

Duty station: Shashamane with possible travel to Adama and Dilla Campuses as necessarily. 

Job Requirements

Qualification:  Masters in Related Fileds

  • The Vice Academic Dean is a senior staff appointed by the Dean. He/She is accountable to the Academic Dean.

  • The Vice Academic Dean is responsible for all operational matters pertaining to students’ admissions, student

  • At least 3 & above Years and above for Masters in similar position or work experience in any Educational institution, privet college, university, technical Vocational Education Training (TVET) Institute.

  • In addition, the Vice Academic Dean should have proven experience in any field of privet or government college/university and TVET or Level’s learning and design and development of learning and training curricula and programmes including supervisory responsibility required for the position.

  • Should able to work in the hardship working environment and exist a difficulty of the working place of grievances and complaints by focusing on his/her duty.

The Vice Academic Dean should be familiar with the mission of the PVC College, the mandates of the various FDRE Educational Authority and, Oromia Education Bearuea’s system and current overarching priorities such as advancing ongoing national reform efforts and the goals of the Marketing Need Assessment and request accreditation for the demanding new offering of PhD, Masters, BA degree, Level’s Courses.

 Language:  

  • An applicant for the Vice Academic Dean must speak, read, listen and write English, Afan Oromo, and Amharic.
