Job Description
The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was founded in 1970 through the initiative of the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations seconded by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. The Institute got its name from the Norwegian physician, Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, who first described the leprosy bacillus (Mycobacterium leprae). AHRI is a biomedical research institute that works in developing tools for prevention, control and treatment of mycobacterium and other diseases of public healthy importance through applied and basic biomedical research and training.
AHRI in collaboration with APOPO, a Belgian NGO that trains rats to detect landmines, tuberculosis and much more is launching a project that aims to enhance tuberculosis case detection among health facilities across Addis Ababa City Administration. The objective of the project is to find smear positive tuberculosis patients that are missed by the conventional method (microscopy) and bring them to treatment so as to contain the spread of the disease to the community.
AHRI would like to hire qualified candidate in the position of Senior Administration, Finance and Logistic for this project.
Key Duties and responsibilities
- To contribute to the effective running of the progress, providing financial and administrative support under the direction and guidance of the APOPO Project PI;
- Perform bookkeeping of the project accounts
- Manage, track and report the project budget to APOPO headquarter
- Ensure that the project purchases complies with AHRI’s procurement policy and procedure
- Prepare payroll, per Diem and other payments to the project staff
- Prepare and updates project related files
- To monitor expenditure against budget headings and report any variances and control in line with donor funded requirements.
- Respond to donor information requests in relation to project budget.
- Working closely with Finance & HR in relation to APOPO
- Respond to any assignment given by the project leader and/or APOPO headquarter
MA Degree in Accounting/Finance/Business Studies And minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience; OR
BA Degree in Accounting/Finance And minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience.
Basic knowledge of different accounting software and Microsoft applications
Other Competencies
Fluency in English communication (spoken & written)
Prior experience with donor-funded projects; willingness to be multi-tasked in admin, finance, and logistics; and willingness to take up out of office tasks.
