Nutrition International (NI) formerly Micronutrient Initiative, is a Canadian-based International Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) dedicated to the delivery of proven nutrition interventions with a focus on mothers, children under 5 years, and adolescents. The vision of NI is a world where everyone, everywhere is free from malnutrition and able to reach their full potential. Currently, Nutrition International is seeking applications for a high caliber and results-oriented individual with integrity in the position of Senior Program Officer – Child Health and Nutrition Lead and Regional Program Coordinator to be based in Ethiopia.
The role:
In line with NI’s strategic Plan, the Child Health and Nutrition Senior Program Officer’s role is to be the technical lead for the Child survival program (Vitamin A supplementation, VAS, and Zinc/ORS interventions) in Ethiopia and to coordinate the planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of integrated regional programs for SNNP Region of Ethiopia. He/she shall also improve the quality and coverage of integrated Nutrition and health program by supporting the Federal Ministry of Health and regional health Bureaus. Reporting to the Deputy country director, the regional coordinator / SPO will be responsible for project development, implementation, and management of all integrated projects, monitoring and reporting, knowledge management, research, and evaluation. S/h will manage all the external relations and supervise all the TAs in the regional bureaus. Working closely with the NI expertise in Ethiopia, RO and HQ S/H will be the technical lead for the Child survival Project. S/H will ensure overall project management and oversee the technical aspect of the project for smooth running.
Job Requirements
What we are looking for:
At a minimum, a Masters degree from a recognized university in Public Health, Reproductive Health, Community Health or Nursing/Midwifery. Training in epidemiology and research methodologies preferred. At least 10 years’ experience working in maternal health, Midwifery, Public health and/or related field in Ethiopia or the Sub Saharan Africa. At least 5 years of experience in supervising Child survival programs.
Fluent in written and spoken English and Amharic required.
