ROLE PURPOSE

The job holder is responsible for coordinating effective and quality budget development in a growing number of proposal submissions. The post holder ensures all financial aspects of proposal development are considered and the policy and strategic framework of Plan International Ethiopia are met.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Monthly run cost apportionment cock pit on SAP

    • Ensures grants and cost center is properly set up for cost apportionment on the financial system

    • Carry out cost recovery to grants on fair and consistent basis and in accordance with the cost recovery policy of PIE and GH.

    • Develop work on cost classifications in coordination with the finance team to support the cost recovery policy of the organization.

    • Ensure staff salary funding matrix is properly updated and salary WBS is submitted to treasury unit accurately and timely.

    • Ensures all donor compliant grants accepting cost apportionment are linked in the SAP system and cost apportionment is run fairly.

    • Coordinates with proposal budget development team to ensure new proposal budgets developed are fair cost allocation compliant,

    Other Responsibilities

    • Within the scope of the role, there will be additional assignments as needed.

    Safeguarding Children and Young People (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)

    • Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.

    • Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in the area of work.

    • Ensures that Plan Ethiopia contributes to Plan International’s global efforts that safeguarding and GEI are included in proposal development, budget and related documents

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications/ Experience Essential:

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance, and/or Business Administration with relevant work experience

  • 5 years of experience in accounting, budgeting and financial responsibilities, at least 2 of which spent in working directly with donor budgets

  • Basic knowledge of Finances role and grant management role

  • Knowledge of cost recovery processes.

  • Substantial understanding of excel and budgeting functions

    • Integrated knowledge and understanding of grant accounting concepts, practices, systems, and procedures

    Skills

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

    • Computer literacy with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel

    •  Demonstrated writing and presentation skills

    • Fluency in written and spoken English language

    •  Experience in leading team, coaching and mentoring,

    • Results oriented and metrics driven

    • Exceptional time management and able to solve problems

    • Confident to present results to an audience

    • Strategic thinking, planning and creative problem-solving skills

    • Ability to work under pressure

    Qualifications/ experience desirable:

    • Experience in grant budget development and knowledge of donor funding principles;

    Languages required

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

    • Advanced computer software skills, including Excel and financial software;

    • Strong in Financial Budgeting, Planning and Reporting;

    • Shapes strategy, policy, standards and plans clearly aligned with relevant priorities and stakeholder interests and based on rigorous internal and external evidence.
