The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Delegation in Ethiopia is looking to hire an experienced, highly motivated and qualified person to fill the position of Welcome Officer (6 months fixed term contract for maternity cover) based in Addis Ababa.

 GENERAL DUTIES

  • Understands and adheres to the seven Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement

  • Understands and adheres to the ICRC Code of Conduct

  • Understands the roles of the components of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement

  • Respects and observes staff regulations and security rules at all times

  • Represents the ICRC in a professional manner at all times

  • Develops and maintains a pleasant and conducive working environment with colleagues and line managers

  • Performs all duties with the highest level of confidentiality in the interest of the employees and the ICRC

  • May be asked to perform tasks not covered in this job description and to provide support to other departments when necessary

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Highly knowledgeable to the travel and tourism sector, able to work effectively under pressure and in a fast paced environment

  • Highly aware of the nature of business travels in today`s complex environment

  • Comfortable to work with multi-nationals and with workforce from different cultural background

  • Knowledge of accounting & finance;

  • Good computer knowledge; MS-Word, MS-Excel, Lotus Notes and power point

  • Good knowledge on invoice preparation, billing, verification & payment follow up

  • Good knowledge on documentation and filing

  • Good knowledge on the preparation of contract agreements, SLAs and proposals  

  • Good knowledge on reservation, ticketing and international customer awareness

  • Knowledge on visas, resident ID/work permit/driving license issues, duty free previledge and driving license issuance processes and activities

  • Knowledge on hotel bookings, event coordination and management

  • Knowledge on guest management, reception and familiarization

  • Knowledge on pick and drop, airport transfer and guest house management tasks

  • Knowledge on online booking/ticketing of air travel and hotel reservation systems 

Job Requirements

  • A minimum of BA degree in Business, Administration, Management, Accounting, Aviation, Tourism, Foreign Language or other related fields

  • Certificate in Reservation and/or Ticketing both in GDS or Online platform will be advantageous 

  • 3 years and above experience in customer service; preferably in the Airlines, international hotels, logistics & transport firms, Travel & Tour agencies and/or travel management companies. Having an experience in INGOs will be a plus

  • Has efficient communication skills; both verbal and written

  • Has advanced English language ability; additional language skills such as French or Arabic will be a plus
