Job Description

Action for Social Development and Environmental Protection Organization (ASDEPO) is national NGO and not for profit humanitarian organization established in accordance with the charities and societies proclamation No 621/2009 and re registered under the 1113/2019 revised proclamation. ASDEPO is implementing currently various projects in Oromiya, SNNPR, Somali, Gambella, Benishangul Gumuz, Afar, Tigray and Amhara regions. To meet its objectives ASDEPO calls for competent professionals to apply for the following vacant post.

Purpose of the position

The Child Protection Project Coordinator will be accountable for the formulation, design, planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluation of ASDEPO supported emergency programming, with a focus on child protection and response. This work will be undertaken within the context of the broader ASDEPO response to the IDP and humanitarian crisis work.

Major Responsibilities

  • Leads the preparation of ongoing situation reports, periodic updates and analyses, by compiling and analyzing data, and related information on overall IDP, returnees and humanitarian crisis in the target area, with a specific focus on child protection, and prepare written inputs accordingly to inform effective program planning, development and management

  • Undertakes regular field visits to project areas and IDP sites, to assess local conditions and monitor progress

  • Collect information; identify problems and constraints in order to ensure effective project delivery

  • Design, prepare, monitor and evaluate projects in the child protection (CP) sector in partnership with other civil society and government actors Participate in meetings with relevant coordination forums, local authorities, other actors and donors to discuss and represent ASDEPO’s work

  • Monitor analyses and evaluate project results to ensure achievement of objectives and take corrective action when necessary.

Number of post: One

Location: Gulina, Ewa, Awra and Yalo woredas of zone 4 Afar Region

Type of Employment: Contract, Initially for Six month with possibility of extension

Job Requirements

Qualification

  •  BA/BSC Degree in relevant fields such as Sociology, psychology, Health, Management, Gender studies, development management and other related fields of study with a minimum two years of relevant work experience.

  • Fluent written and spoken English

  • Sex: Male/Female
