ChildFund Ethiopia, Oromia local Partners

ChildFund Ethiopia, Oromia Local partners are looking for a competent Fundraising / Resource Mobilization Expert (fund-raiser) to mobilize resources to expand the organizations areas of interventions.

The Fundraising & Resource Mobilization Expert is responsible for any kind of resource mobilization and fundraising initiatives of the organizations.  He/ she will be responsible to develop fundraising and resource mobilization strategy, concept notes, project proposals and organize fundraising events. The post holder will work with the program team and take overall responsibility for maintaining strong relationships with and raising significant funds from different local and international donors. The incumbent will work in consultation with the four Oromia based LPs.

The Fundraising / Resource Mobilization Expert will also be responsible to advise on donor priorities and explore funding opportunities. The position holder will work closely with ChildFund Sector specific specialists and the respective LP program team and reports to the ChildFund Senior  Resource Mobilization Specialist.

Major Responsibilities

Strategy Development:

  • Lead, develop and implement a fundraising strategy and plans for increasing resource mobilization from potential donor.

  • Develop the capacity statements of the respective LPs

  •  Lead, motivate and coordinate the program, finance, and support staff in fundraising and develop their capacities in this area

  • Facilitate the development and implementation of annual fundraising plan

  • Advise the executive directors of the respective organizations on the funding context

Fund Raising/ Opportunity Generation:

  • Responsible for establishing partnerships with potential donors in Ethiopia, to grow income which improves the sustainability of the organizations, including proactively securing/ hunting funds from new income streams.

  • Once opportunities are identified, this role will lead proposal development activities, including co-ordination of Program, M&E and Finance teams to develop high quality proposals, budgets, and log frames.

  •  Review, negotiate and share donor contracts to ensure confidence in meeting contractual requirements.

  • Coordinate start-up processes for any new grant income, to clarify roles and responsibilities and to facilitate successful grant management.

  •  Maintain clear communication channels with fundraising teams when approaching and developing relationships with new and existing donors. Including support for donor visits and attending meetings/events.

  •  Respond in a timely manner to information requests from donors

  •  Ensure the organizations are well positioned within the donor community for long term engagement/ programming

  • Conduct donor mapping and regularly update their profile

  •  Provide staff with up-to-date intelligence on prioritized donors and key funding partners,

  •  Enable effective formation of a strong consortium around specific funding opportunities prior to bid development

Bidding:

  • Ensure effective coordination of proposal development and bid preparations, involving staff and consultants as necessary to deliver bids

  •  Ensure effective contract negotiation for strategic, high-value opportunities as well as facilitate negotiations on donor contract terms and conditions

Knowledge Management:

  • Support Senior Management Team members with quality assurance processes, tools, and capacity building for specific donors

  • Actively contribute to learning, particularly through sharing knowledge of new donors, donor policies, capacity building activities in fundraising.

  • Document past, current, and future fundraising efforts/successes, challenges, and opportunities

Safeguarding & Safety & Security:

  • Maintain and uphold the respective organizations Code of Conduct, Safeguarding and Child Protection Policies.

  • Adhere to any local security protocols that have been put in place when working in the office, traveling to the field, or undertaking project/program activities

Other: 

  • Perform any other duty as may be assigned by supervisor or designee from time to time.

  • Participate and contribute to committees and task forces as may be assigned by the line manager.

Location: Addis Ababa with regular field visits 

Job Requirements

Education and Qualification:

  • M.A/ B.A degree in Economics, International Development, Institutional Development, Business Management, or related fields

  •  Minimum of 7 years related experience for B.A holder and 5 years for M. A holder in raising funds from donors such as the EU, DFID/FCDO, USAID, SIDA, NORAD, DANIDA, etc.

Required Skills: 

  • The person must possess the following behavior and skills:

  • Excellent writing and analytical skills in the English language

  • Team player and strong communication

  • In-depth knowledge of the fundraising industry and its current events

  • Ability to handle pressure and meet deadlines

  • Skill in prioritizing and triaging obligations

  • Attention to detail

  • Excellent time management and organization

  • Excellent skills in excel management and computation
