IOCC was established in 1992 as the official humanitarian organization of the Standing Conference of Canonical Orthodox Bishops in the Americas (SCOBA). IOCC’s global operations are managed from its headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland with field offices in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and East Africa. IOCC has amassed considerable experience worldwide in emergency and development settings and across a range of sectors, including food security, WASH, micro-credit lending, health, nutrition, agriculture, shelter, infrastructure, education, livelihoods, capacity building, and civil society development through programs that support communities lifting themselves out of poverty and achieve economic sustainability.

IOCC Ethiopia works in cooperation with EOC-DICAC, international and local NGOs, and various ministries, including the ministries of Health, Education, and Agriculture, and provides humanitarian and development assistance to communities throughout the country.

IOCC Ethiopia would like to hire a vibrant and experienced person with the following competency and requirement.  

General purpose of the job

The purpose of the position is to provide an effective and professional management role for the multi-sectorial emergency interventions in the North Wollo zone. This includes IOCC's nutrition, Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergencies (IYCF-E), and Psychosocial support interventions. He/she is responsible for the overall coordination, planning, and implementation of emergency nutrition-related activities at the local level using participatory and community-based approaches. S/he is also responsible to provide technical support and guidance at the local level to Woreda experts and other staff members working in the area of emergency nutrition.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Manage the implementation of Nutrition, IYCF-E, and Psychosocial support intervention projects as per the project proposal and budget secured.

  • Coordinate and lead the overall implementation of emergency projects including nutrition, IYCF-E, and psychosocial support service provision in the North Wollo area.

  • Plan and ensure the proper and timely utilization of the allocated projects' financial and other resources allocated to the project.

  • Document and share lessons learned and best practices of the project with the management.

  • Ensure good collaboration and participation with local government and other relevant partners.

  • Liaise with relevant national and international NGOs operating in the area and government bodies to ensure information sharing and coordination, regarding response plans, agreements, and reports.

  • Organize and provide/coordinate with the relevant department, capacity-building training for technical officers, health extension workers, outreach workers, and government staff as needed.   

  • Ensure that Monitoring & Evaluation plans are implemented with the involvement of relevant stakeholders.

  • Ensure that all project partners have a clear understanding of Monitoring & Evaluation requirements and incorporate them in the project implementation.

  • In close collaboration with the M&E department, plan and implement project monitoring and evaluation activities.

  • Ensure that program participants and stakeholders have clear information about the activities of the program as appropriate and relevant to them.

Location: Woldiya town, North Wollo Zone

Reports to: Nutrition Program Manager

Employment Type: six-month (possibility of extension)

Qualifications and experience required

Education

  • A minimum of B.Sc. degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Nursing, or other health-related fields of study and a minimum of 5 years of practical experience in emergency nutrition, of which more than 2 years of NGO experience in emergency/ humanitarian context. Knowledge and experience in emergency nutrition-related programs such as WASH are advantages.
