Brooke is an international animal welfare organization working to improve the lives of working horses, donkeys, mules and the people who depend on them. Main Purpose of the Job

As a General Services Officer/Driver Mechanic (GSO) the beholder of the position will be responsible for the management of physical resources and logistical functions at Brooke Ethiopia. GSOs manage the movement of Brooke’s and rental vehicles, keep track of vehicle service and maintenance, and assist with property inventory and procurement.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

1.      Driver Mechanic Support

This is a general support function role directly supervised by the Human Resources and Admin Manager. The Driver/Mechanic will perform the following duties:

• Assisting in performance maintenance arrangements pertaining to all the office vehicles and in the creation of spare parts for the office vehicles

• Inspecting all office vehicles, advising on maintenance-related issues and spare parts supplies.

• Responsible for putting in order and controlling the items in the store

• Performing minor repairs such as changing brake pads, oil and oil filters, etc., and arranging for major repairs with the authorized workshop,

• Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner

• Clean and apply lubricants to vehicles

• Provide consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures to vehicle users

• Assisting in case of a broken vehicle

• Keep logs of work and report on issues

• Performing other duties as required.

2.      Logistics General Service Support

• Driving office vehicles for the transportation of authorized personnel and delegations, delivery or collection of goods, etc.

• Give driving and other support to visitors and guests while moving in Addis Ababa or to project offices

•  Follow up yearly examination of vehicles at road transport authority.

•  Provide support in rental vehicles

• Keep track of vehicle service and maintenance

• Assist with property inventory and procurement

Job Requirements

• Diploma in Auto-Mechanic or related fields from a recognized college with a minimum of 5 years of proven work experience preferably in an NGO.

•  Excellent knowledge of machinery and hydraulic, electrical, and other systems and their components

• A strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines

• Very good communication skills

• A problem-solving ability

• Valid 3-grade driving license
