Development Expertise Center (DEC) is a National Civil Society Organization (CSO) that aspires to see all marginalized children properly fostered. The organization has four major programs; Child Development, Gender and Life Skill Development; Skills and Entrepreneurship Development, and Lobby & advocacy. DEC works in five National Regional States of Amhara, Afar, Gambela, Oromia Benishangul, and Addis Ababa City Administration. DEC would like to recruit for the following position:

Assist the facilitation process and implementation of youth-led advocacy, meaningful youth engagement in youth mobilization, and social behavioral change in the Integrated Youth Activity project.  S/he will be responsible for working with young people, partners, and stakeholders to instill the practice of meaningful youth engagement and participation in IYA’s mobilization work, and provide support to build the capacity of youth on youth-led advocacy

Responsibilities 

• Assist the Advocacy officer to  Identify advocacy topics with youth coalition leaders and task force and set lobby and coach and mentor the team to address their issue to responsible government structure

• Assist in Organizing publicity, youth-led advocacy knowledge-sharing events, and promotional opportunities and facilitated provision of logistics support to the events;

• Review reference materials and maintains information database and photo as well as audio libraries;

• Develop and implement strategies to increase and improve public outreach;

• Assist in Preparation promotional materials on the project including pamphlets, videos, etc.;

• Prepare communications reports for the project management team and donor;

• Support the development and implementation of plans of monitoring of meaningful youth engagement at different partners and stakeholders organizations;

• Support in managing close relationships with relevant local and national stakeholders to advance cooperation and collaboration.

• Support the identification and assistance of capacity-building needs of both governmental and national CSOs on youth-led advocacy and meaningful youth engagement and participation.

Job Requirements

Qualification and Experience

•  BA in Law, Sociology, and related fields with  Less than 7  years of experience.             

 Technical and other Skills

• Able to mobilize out-of-school youth and the ability to work with young people at their preferred time including out-of-working hours.

• Able to read and write proficiently in the targeted city instructional languages.

• Excellent written and verbal communication in both local and English languages.

• Willing to work at youths’ preference time including on the weekend and evening
