Job Description
Planning
Ensure livelihoods activities are well-designed by taking an active role in project work planning, Prepare drafts/ToR for activities implementation (background, methodology, objectives, results, activities, BoQ, Monitoring and post monitoring table linked to result framework and send it to APM/PM
Support to prepare weekly activity planning, movement plan with the PM and APM
Contribute to weekly meetings, Compile weekly report and submit them to the APM/PM
Provide any support required by the PM in drafting the M&E plan for the project according to Log Frames
When requested by the PM, prepare a detailed physical and financial monthly plan according to the format provided by the PM and submit it to PM 10 days before the end of the month
Act as a focal point for all livestock activities and issues taking place across the intervention areas
Anticipate challenges in project implementation, identify solutions and work with the team in problem solving
Implementation
Lead Food security and livelihoods activities focused on Voucher based livestock treatments, livestock vaccination campaign, support government animal health service delivery, support nutrition based livestock re-stocking, rangeland rehabilitation and stream diversion/flood protection, forage production and coordinate the activities with other technical project activities
Organize and conduct pre-and post- KAP survey to realize and evaluate the impact of the project towards communities
Lead in the provision of technical support on your field of expertise and actively facilitate the implementation of the project activities working closely with the project team and external stake holders
Supervise project site level implementation of project livelihood and food security activities
Conduct field assessments either independently or as part of livelihoods multidisciplinary teams focusing on the humanitarian needs of affected populations in the project areas, share updates with all the concerned stakeholders and gives accurate recommendations that probably be the action plan for the community
Guarantee the preparation and distribution of assistance at the sites
Stay on the project implementation site and spend much time as possible with the beneficiaries to increase quality of the implementation and understanding of the context
Make proper use and taking care of COOPI properties under her/him control
Reporting
Update daily and weekly report for works completed linking with the field workers, PM, APM
Report any managerial issues in the activities implementation to the PM, APM
Report any technical issue to PM, APM or advisors as required
Actively participate to weekly meeting called by the PM and APM
Prepares the operational reports and regularly gives an account of the on ongoing activities including multidisciplinary assessments to PM, APM, program Coordinators, head of programs or advisors as required
Draft/inform the PM and APM on activities accomplishment including implementation data as requested (Monthly, interim, final, ad hoc, etc)
Share an updated file including livestock diseases surveillance to the PM, APM, program Coordinators, head of programs or advisors as required
Update local authorities about activities implementation on weekly basis
Share lessons learned and success stories for future programming
External Coordination
Play a lead role coordinating with identified beneficiaries, government and private sector partners on livelihood improvements
Represents COOPI (as requested by the PM) during discussions with the concerned communities and ensures that creative suggestions are incorporated in a bid to address the protection issues raised by the communities
Attend coordination meetings at Kebele and Woredas level as requested by the PM and share key points
Support the organization of internal and donors’ visits to the project sites liaising with the PM
Liaise with the different interlocutors and stakeholders on varying issues of interest when required
Actively participate in relevant technical working group
In coordination with the Cluster and stakeholder identifies humanitarian needs resulting from conflict or violence and proposes a course of action
Actively participate in relevant technical working group, consortium and cluster coordination meetings with members, NGOs and Gov.t at levels requested by the PM and share key points (no decision level is granted in stakeholders coordination meetings)
Monitors the overall context, economic and social developments and their impact on the population within the region
Project development
Regularly collect information at stakeholder level (Woredas, Kebele and communities) baseline need assessment, gaps.
Propose activities and project ideas and share them to the PM, APM, program Coordinators, head of programs or advisors as required
Perform any other duties assigned by the Project Manager
Provide strategic thinking, writing and data inputs to project reports on a regular basis.
Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary /DVM/, Animal Science or related fields. Master’s degree or higher in related field preferred
Minimum 6 years professional experience with livestock activity coordination works in the voucher based livestock treatments, concentrated livestock feeding, organizing and conduct training for CAHWs, marketing and agricultural sectors
Previous experience in INGO with experience/knowledge of supporting ECHO funded grants specifically in food security (livestock and agriculture)
Experience facilitating relationships between Nongovernmental organization and government
Excellent administrative and organizational skills. Ability to network, represent the organization externally and dialogue with major stakeholders
Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. Ability to work well within a team and take responsibility to deliver results
Demonstrated ability to work in stressful environments and in an area of potential insecurity under pressure
Respect culture, believe of diverse ethnic and traditional set up. Knowledge of working area will be preferable
Fluency in written and spoken English, Afan Oromo and knowledge of other local language is an advantage
Knowledge of Humanitarian principles is an asset. Upholds a high sense of responsibility and confidentiality
Computer proficiency especially in MS Office suite
Duration of contract: Five month with possible extension based on availability of funds
