Job Description
The Program Officer is responsible for Education in the Emergency Program Officer for IDP/returnee and Host Community at Sekota. She/he will coordinate the program at woreda level and make sure that the program is implemented at the target kebeles / site level in line with the agreement made. She/he will be providing guidance and support facilitators for the implementation of Education in Emergencies Response, IDP, IDP return, and Host community. She/he will ensure a periodic and timely reporting of all programs in target woredas of Sekota Zureia
Main responsibilities;
The Program Officer shall:
With guidance and support from Amhara region coordination office and in collaboration with partners from Sekota Education Department staff and as part of the overall response plan implementation;
Develop and submit a work plan for the employment period.
Provide technical and management support for the implementation, monitoring, and reporting of Education in an emergency, IDP, IDP return, and Host community programs that are implemented, monitored, and managed in a timely and effective manner.
Provide technical support to program staff and partners such as, education, implementation of emergency education response plan. This includes ensuring that the efforts are aligned with existing government mechanisms and services to strengthen the sustainability of efforts.
Undertake response implementation in line with relevant education in emergency Response in Ethiopia (2016).
Regularly collect, analyze and report against the woreda level education target and collect, analyze & summarize reports of education, IDPs and IDP returns and host community &submit weekly updates to Amhara region coordination office.
Ensure accurate and timely reporting requirements from woreda and kebeles /sites are met (as per the established format) and systematic coordination of appropriate responses on education.
Coordinate and provide support for the woreda level led coordination mechanism for effective implementation of emergency reopens
Participate in woreda level cluster meeting for education IDP and IDP returns emergency response related meetings and share minutes of such meetings Amhara coordination office
Undertake information management including collecting, analyzing, and reporting of education in emergency situation and response interventions.
Monitor the coverage and complementarity of kebele / site level education activities and recommend for corrective actions to be taken in a timely manner.
Contribute to and facilitate the mainstreaming of education and other coordination mechanisms and sectors through information exchange and joint mapping.
Undertake other relevant tasks as directed by her/ his supervisor and assist with other duties in support of education in Emergencies Programme.
Reports to: Waghumer zone program Coordinator
Employee condition-Contract for 10months with possibility of extension

Requirements/Qualifications & experience
University degree at an advanced level in the field of education, Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Social Anthropology, Community Development, Development Studies and related.
Extensive work experience relevant to education in emergencies may be considered as a replacement for formal qualifications for an advanced level;
At least 2 years progressively responsible humanitarian and development work experience in education including in emergencies.
Previous experience in education program coordination.
Familiarity and experience working with government counterparts.
Strong knowledge and experience in establishing education in emergency especially at woreda levels will be an asset.
