A CCTV (closed circuit television) Officer works in a central control room, monitoring and controlling a bank of screens. These are linked to surveillance cameras placed in public places, buildings and places such as construction sites, to detect and prevent crime, and protect people.

Duties and Responsibilities 

• Operating and maintaining surveillance equipment, watching both live and recorded video surveillance footage, reporting incidents or suspicious behavior and contacting the authorities when necessary. 

• Operating and monitoring all surveillance security systems/cameras within the Control Centre in an efficient manner and in compliance with the operating procedures, legislation and best practice. 

• Recording all events, incidents and actions taken in a clear, legible and accurate written format. 

• Prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities, informing violators of policy and procedures, restraining trespassers.

• Complete reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities; interviewing witnesses. 

• Ensure operation of security equipment and surveillance cameras by reporting any malfunctioning of equipment in a timely manner to the IT Administrator.

• Contribute to security team effort by accomplishing related results as needed 

• Ensure the security, safety, and well-being of all personnel, visitors, and the premises 

• Respond to emergency situations to provide necessary assistance to employees and customers 

• Protect the company's assets relative to theft, assault, fire, and other safety issues 

• Follow procedures for various initiatives, including fire prevention, patrolling premises regularly, traffic control, and accident investigations 

• Report suspicious activity, criminal behavior, and security breaches  

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

• BSc degree in Computer science/ICT/Electrical and Computer Engineering/Police Science or related fields with two years experience in CCTV operation.

                 OR

• Diploma/ Level IV Certificate in IT/Law/Police Science or related fields with three years experience in CCTV operation.

              OR

• Four years CCTV Operation experience as CCTV Officer or equivalent capacity.

 Competencies:

•  Excellent skill to use MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the like). 

• Ability to operate CCTV or Security cameras 

• Surveillance system knowledge 

• Intelligence and investigation expertise
