Job Description

The Ethio-German Sustainable Training and Education Program (STEP) improves the employment prospects of young Ethiopians by promoting quality and relevance in vocational training and higher education. In cooperation with the Ministry of Labor and Skills as well as related agencies and institutions, the program establishes strong linkages between education and the private sector to support the development of a modern education system geared towards employment and economic growth. In this, employers, education providers, and public authorities come together to identify their needs and jointly develop education and training solutions that best tackle the skill mismatch.

The intern is responsible for providing technical and administrative support for the Private Sector Partnership Component of STEP. The primary responsibilities include:

Technical support

·       Research and concept note preparation, mostly in the area of Private Sector engagement in education and training (focus on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET))

·       Follow up and communicate with private sector companies, associations and Chambers

·       Data collection and reporting

·       Support the team Private Sector Partnership in Monitoring and Evaluation

·       Support cross-cutting measures in the areas of gender mainstreaming and inclusion of people with disabilities and do-no-harm approaches (together with other experts)

·       Filing of documents according to GIZ Rules & Regulations

Administrative support

·       Participate in team meetings

·       Taking minutes of meetings whenever needed

·       Support procurement of material and recruitment of consultants

·       Preparing official letters

·       Flight and hotel booking for staff

·       Event organizing

Other Support

Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by the program or supervisor

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Higher education degree in business, law, social sciences, psychology, Technical and Vocational Education and Training, Education or related fields

Professional experience

  • Fresh graduate/ Entry-level

Other knowledge, additional competences

  • Good computer skills, especially in Microsoft packages (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint).

  • Fluent written and oral knowledge of English and Amharic language, additional language skills are an asset

  • Good interpersonal skills and willingness to cooperate with various stakeholders

  • Good communication skills and intercultural competence

  • Ability to work alone as well as in a team

  • Highly motivated to perform and learn

  • High interest in self-development, intellectual curiosity and capacity to think outside the box
