Department: MERLA & Knowledge Management
Place of Work: from any location where Light for the World operates / with some international travel required
Duration: Full-time (40hrs/week), fixed term: until 31 December 2024
Salary: competitive, according to local NPO sector average and dependent on experience
Reports to: Head of MERLA & Knowledge Management
Starting date: As soon as possible

We are looking for a MERLA Specialist to focus on supporting our work under the UK-funded Disability Inclusive Development (DID) program. The role holder will use their expertise in designing, assessing, and disseminating top-quality learning documents to support Light for the World’s country offices and partners to identify, capture and disseminate learning on 'what works and what does not work' in each of the DID projects.

Your tasks

  • You work with colleagues and partners to ensure high quality of learning documents in their design, production and delivery. You coordinate with consultants on expectations, terms of reference, project design and delivery.

  • You will support the quality assurance process starting with the preparation and check of terms of reference, taking part in inductions with consultants/producers, reviewing of inception documentation up to reviewing the final product.

  • You provide expert advice and direction to colleagues and partners on MERLA topics, e.g. indicator definitions and regular MERLA reporting.

  • You support the targeted dissemination of the learning products and uptake of the learning obtained within Light for the World and externally.

Your profile

  • You bring expertise in Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning including strategic work and quality assurance in an international development organization.

  • You bring solid experience in developing and publishing high-quality learning products, ideally for large international development programs and with an international audience. This ranges from randomized control trials, end of project evaluations, summary briefs consolidating research for a wider audience, and advocacy products.

  • You are a person comfortable working with a range of IT affinity tools, and you quickly learn to use systems effectively. Ideally you have already worked with tools like Kobo Toolbox, Activity Info, Power BI and/or graphic design apps like Photoshop and Illustrator.

  • You have excellent English skills; Other languages, e.g. French or Portuguese are an asset.

  • You bring interest in development cooperation and Light for the World‘s mandate areas.

  • Ideally you have already worked in the field of disability inclusion and for projects supported by the UK government.
