CARE seeks a Sr. Gender & Advocacy Advisor for an anticipated $25-49 million USAID-funded Climate Resilient WASH activity in Ethiopia. The goal of this activity is to accelerate the expansion and sustainability of climate-resilient water services and the adoption of key hygiene and sanitation practices in targeted pastoralist areas in Somali, Oromia, SNNPR, and Afar. The Activity will work to fulfill this purpose through four complementary intermediate results:1. Professionalize and expand climate-resilient water services; 2. Use problem-solving and consensus-building skills to promote coordination among diverse interests and institutions.
Develop and deepen innovative approaches to gender integration, gender equality, and inclusive development, and participate actively in relevant professional (formal and informal) communities.
Serve as a technical resource lead and build the capacity of project staff and implementing partners to strengthen knowledge and programming across these gender priorities as they relate to climate resilience and WASH; stay abreast on the latest developments in the field of gender and GBV programming.
Actively participate in the relevant technical communities of practice, and contribute to project information sharing, coordination, and collaboration as appropriate.
Master’s Degree in social science or related field. Training in gender studies, women’s studies, research or practical experience related to recovery and empowerment of GBV survivors preferred.
Demonstrated experience managing complex advocacy initiatives in developing or conflict prone contexts similar to Ethiopia.
Demonstrated experience with capacity building of local organizations and government leaders to support their design and implementation of community-driven advocacy campaigns.
