Junior Procurement and Contract Officer (Maternity Replacement)

The Project “Protection and sustainable use of natural resources in Ethiopia” aims to strengthen the capacities of institutions responsible for protected areas and forests for a climate-resilient management of selected landscapes in accordance with the interests of the local population. The upcoming new module of the project introduces innovative implementation approaches that promote a wider collaboration among local stakeholders, partners, communities, as well as the engagement of private actors in the restoration of degraded landscapes; the use of digital solutions for improving partners’ capacities and efficiency; and the expansion of the timber value chain.

The project implements activities at federal level, at the regional level in SNNPR and Amhara, as well as in remote areas in the field.

The procurement and logistics officer will be responsible to handle and process all procurement of good and services required to implement project activities. He/she will also coordinate logistics for field missions as well as coordinate drivers’ assignments

  • In accordance with GIZ regulations and in consultation with project management, the junior procurement officer.                    

  • Processes local procurement of materials and equipment, invitations to tender and order processing

  • Assists with checking invoices for goods, vouchers, payment instructions and complaints

  • Organizes the safe transport of goods to destination

  • Documents and files completed order transactions in reference files or in DMS in line with GIZ’s filing rules

  • Facilitates the safe transport of goods to destination

  • Keep track of procurement of goods and services on shared document

  • Processes procurement processes and organizes logistics for project events

  • Coordinates logistics for field missions (including transportation and reservation of accommodation)

  • Coordinates assignments for drivers in Addis Ababa during the absence of the office manager

  • Organizes events, booking meeting venues and arranging accommodation for project/partners

  • Facilitates payments for suppliers and consultants during the end of an assignment

  • Follows up the procurement of goods and services at the country office

  • Send quarterly report of internet allocation to all projects and finance team

  • Performs other duties and tasks based on the request of the management

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • BA Degree in business management, with a focus on finance, controlling, purchasing or contract management or similar area

Professional experience

  • At least 1-3 year of professional experience in a comparable position

Other knowledge, additional competencies

  •  Very good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office)

  • High level of self-organization and ability to work independently

  • Fluent written and oral knowledge of English and Amharic

  • Willingness to continuously update know-how and skills in a changing environment
