Job Description

Greek Community School is one of the leading schools in Addis Ababa that has served the community for more than a century. We are seeking experienced candidates to fill the following positions.

Job Summary

The Principal is outright responsible for managing the GCS with full autonomy. He/she oversees the entire range of educational services, ensuring a safe learning environment and setting performance goals for both students and teachers, and overseeing the process to ensure that the Association's mission is met. 

Key Responsibilities and KPIs

  • Ensure and enhance the quality of education with the collaboration of the concerned parties.

  • Ensure that school facilities remain safe for students and faculty and plan regular maintenance of school grounds and equipment.

  • Assure the overall quality of education and make sure the Cambridge system is running smoothly in close collaboration with the Academic Coordinator.

  • Delegate the academic coordinator in the event of an absence or for matters requiring distilled expertise.

  • Oversee the recruitment of students for the Greek Section and ensure required inputs are allocated for the smooth running of the program.

  • Oversee daily school operations. 

  • Manage school logistics and budgets.

  • Set learning goals for students and teachers based on the approved curriculum.

  • Monitor and report on teachers' performance.

  • Present data on school performance to the GM

  • Take the initiative to develop new resources and techniques to improve teaching 

  • Interview and hire school personnel

  • Review and implement school policies 

  • Give guidance and counseling to teachers 

  • Handle emergencies and school crises

  • Provide job descriptions and make a contractual agreement with each staff member that is found under the reporting relationship.

  • Prepares job descriptions for newly formed positions.

  • Plan school functions and assemblies.

  • Ensure a safe and clean environment for students (e.g., by implementing hygiene rules).

  • Attend conferences to gain knowledge of current educational trends.

  • Performs other duties as directed by the supervisor

 Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • MA/MSC/BA/BSC in Educational Administration/Management/Planning

Experience

  • A minimum of 10/12 years of related teaching and educational administration experience is required.

Skills, knowledge, and abilities

  • Knowledge of school administrative processes and national educational regulations

  • Practical experience with Microsoft Office and other educational management systems

  • Proven leadership skills

  • Attention to detail

  • Great presentation and communication skills.

  • Crisis management

  • Ability to coach and inspire
