About the Organization
American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (AJJDC) is an international non-governmental organization impacting millions of lives in more than 70 countries, leveraging a century’s experience confronting poverty and crisis around the world. AJJDC began working in Ethiopia in 1983, striving to advance the health and wellbeing of those living in the Gondar region.
AJJDC is looking for experienced and energetic Program professional and would like to invite qualified and interested persons to apply for the post.
KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Drive and maintain the vehicle in a professional, conscious, and safe manner obeying the local road traffic laws.
Always ensure that the vehicle is equipped with the correct tools and spare parts (functioning jack, a spade, an approved tool kit, a spare wheel with a properly inflated tyre and first aid kit)
Ensures that he/she has a valid driving license all time and ensures that a copy of the car paper and log sheet is in the car.
Ensure that vehicles are checked daily and weekly, and that they are correctly maintained.
Ensure that the vehicle is kept clean, inside, and outside at all times.
Ensuring that no unauthorized personnel, no military personnel, no harmful weapon including gun, stick, knife, spear, any explosive materials, Chat, drugs are on board.
Distribute different letters, packages to and from project office and to other partners and stakeholders.
Assist office in coordinating field visits.
Ensuring to leave the compound with authorized paper and passenger, clearance or store issue for goods for clearly stated reason.
Maintain a logbook of vehicle movement, its mileage, servicing, fuel consumption and general vehicle condition.
Ensuring parking of vehicles in a safe area when on the field visit, not near to the market, fuel stations, bars, or any unsecured places.
Perform other duties as required related to vehicle management.
Others:
Assist the project team in providing the necessary logistical support such as dispatching letters, procurement of supplies and stationery, and any other facilitation support at time of meetings, workshops, etc.
Perform any other similar tasks that may be reasonably assigned by the supervisor.
Reporting:
Report all accidents, or other incidents involving other vehicles or pedestrians, to the Operations Coordinator and Budget & Finance Director.
Ensures that the proper procedures for insurance claims are followed at the time and scene of any accident.
Report any vehicle damage or malfunction to the Operations Coordinator as soon as possible.
At the end of the month, submit completed log sheet to the Operations Coordinator.
Other information
Travel: Able to travel frequently to the project sites in the area covered by the project. Travel may include visits to the field under challenging circumstances and less-secured areas. The position of the driver requires a full-time commitment of the successful candidate.

Report to: JDC Operations Coordinator
Duty Station: Addis Ababa, with regular travel to Butajira, SNNPR and Oromia as well as other regions (TBD)
Qualifications/Experiences
Complete of secondary education, 3rd grade valid driving license, minimum of 5 years of previous related work experience.
Basic oral and written English communication skill.
Well-developed interpersonal and team skills and proven ability to be flexible in demanding situations.
Ability in minor vehicle maintenance especially at time of unexpected cases during filed travels.
