General Information

·       Job Title:  MEAL Coordinator

·       Reports to: Program Coordinator   

·       Contract Period: till 30.04.2026

The MEAL Coordinator is responsible to develop a unified MEAL system, and to advise and strengthen the MEAL officers of the partner organizations.

In addition to capacity strengthening in the partner organizations, the WHH MEAL Coordinator is responsible for data collection, including the baseline, annual survey, and final surveys, together with the project managers in the country offices.

The MEAL coordinator aligns the unified MEAL system across the three African Nutrition Smart CommUNITY scaling countries in order to provide robust data on which evidence-based decisions can be made and comparison of data between countries is possible. The MEAL Coordinator cooperates with the Program Coordinator and the Knowledge and Scaling Officer and supports the Knowledge and Learning Platform with robust data.

•        Be responsible for the development and implementation of an overarching M&E plan/ strategy/ framework, including the fine-tuning of the TOC, in coordination with the in-country MEAL teams at WHH and partners.

•        Together with country-level WHH and partners’ MEAL teams, lead on all assessments across the implementing countries, including baseline/endline, formal evaluations, project monitoring, annual surveys and periodic other assessments and studies, which conform with WHH MEAL standards and agreed standards and donor requirements

•        Ensure that participating country offices and partner organizations use agreed and standardized M&E methodologies, including agreed log frames and indicators, sampling, and data collection, analysis, and reporting tools.

•        Provide countries with state-of-the-art guidance and support for nutrition indicator-related tools development, training, data collection, data management, calculation and interpretation, in coordination with the regional nutrition advisors

•        Collate and prepare project monitoring reports and overviews, also to feed into other project reporting and decision-making, from across the different project sites/ partners

•        Ensure that collected data is in line with requirements of the NSC Knowledge and Learning Platform and can be used in the dashboard

•        Provide guidance, capacity strengthening and exchange and individual support to COs and partners on MEAL related issues relating to the programs

•        Keep track of overall target indicators, and flag (potential) issues as needed

•        Oversee and keep track of program progress through activity progress documentation

•        Ensure that COs and implementing partners have in place functioning and inclusive Complaint and Feedback systems for the programs and follow up on individual country CRMs and accountability issues as needed.  Assure feedback to project participants and involvement of participants in the design of activities.

•        Together with relevant COs, the Program Coordinator on PCU level, and regional technical advisors, plan and organize mid- and end evaluations, including the necessary procurement and learning events for the programs

•        Support data analysis for baseline, endline and ongoing monitoring activities. Support national approval of Child Growth Monitor App, data collection and analysis of collected data

•        Consolidate and verify country data for inclusion in reports to donors

Job Requirements

BSc or higher degree in Public health monitoring and evaluation, epidemiology, public health, Nutrition and Food security or Statistics, another related field

-         At least  seven years  for BSC and five years for MSC of relevant work experience

-         Excellent quantitative and qualitative research methods skills, including complex sampling methods, KAP surveys, FGDs

-         Experience in implementing nutrition surveys, including SMART surveys

-         Excellent understanding of nutrition indicators, their analysis/ computing and interpretation

-         Ideally experience in computing MIYCF and anthropometric indicators according to global guidance/ standards

-         Experience in tools development (tailored to local contexts),

-         High level familiarity of electronic data collection software and programming

-         Excellent skills in statistical software packages (e.g., STATA, SPSS, R) and software for nutrition surveys (ENA for SMART, EpiInfo, etc.)
