Job Description

  • Support H&N officers to conduct training for woreda experts and SPIR-II staff on Nurturing Care Group Model (NCG) Models and follow-up with any refresher training to ensure that knowledge is retained and skills are still demonstrated to the required proficiency

  • Support integration of NCG with key relevant components across SPIR II technical programs  

  • Support Mini - Knowledge attitude and practice (KAP) assessment at the end of 16th Sessions in order to identify Knowledge skill gaps and technical assistance capacity-building needs.

  • Conduct the training for Health and Nutrition program staff at Regional, Zonal/Woreda level.

  • Facilitate cascading of training and capacity-building activities for GoE Ministry of Health counterparts at different administrative levels.

  • Actively participate in national Nutrition forums or technical working group /nutrition clusters with other RFSA or HRA partners,

  • Support and collaborate with the ongoing learning and program adaptation activities of SPIR-II implementers, and government partners (FMoH) to exchange ideas, learning, and implementation experiences

  • Contribute to PSNP-5 program Health and Nutrition intervention-related dialogue and strategy and policy engagement with key stakeholders and partners particularly on NCG

  • Work closely with Health & Nutrition technical advisor, specialist, and SBCC specialist in refining DIP, ensuring consistency with the respective IPs NCG-related direction and priorities

  • Support quality assurance monitoring processes and tools adoption /development (e.g. QIVC) to identify areas of improvement or capacity gaps, for targeted technical support on NCG Project Model

  • Conduct QIVC bi-annually for each H&N officer of all IPs when they conduct NCG Meeting sessions with Promoters and give them constructive feedback in their area of improvement

  • Conduct QIVC quarterly for sample CHF of all IPs when they conduct NCG Meeting sessions with NCGVs and give them constructive feedback in their area of improvement

  • Conduct monthly Sample home visits in SPIR –II Implementing partner’s operational area to ensure the quality of Home visits by NCGVs

  • Support SPIR II Learning partner, IFPRI, and other local researchers in the key impact study related to NCG project Model.

  • Monitor the progress of the NCG project model activities at the field level and provide ongoing feedback and recommendations to the Health and Nutrition Officer, MHPSS officer WASH officers, program coordinators, and community leaders.

  • Collect and report information such as the number of Neighbor Caregivers registered, attending meetings, the number of women screened, and vital events (pregnancy, birth, death etc...)

  • Ensure quality of record keeping and documentation and report to the supervisor and also use the information for quality improvement as well as to support the WFSTF decision-making

  • Work closely with Health and Nutrition Technical Advisor, SBCC specialist, and MEL team, identify and track key performance indicators and areas of improvement and share with a respective manager or technical team for targeted action.

  • Conduct regular onsite support, field monitoring visits, and supportive supervision of the field team to empower the field staff, keep the uniformity of NCG project model intervention across implementing partners, and provide regular feedback.

  • Support the review, synthesis, and write-up of NCG project model intervention results for quarterly and annual reports.

  • Actively participate and represent SPIR at the Regional and zonal level  forums such as the Regional  review meetings to share  NCG or NCG-related  learning and challenges

  • Support the production of case stories, lesson learning, and best practices documentation through following the identification of cases and capturing and documentation process

  • Support the drafting of quarter and annual reports by providing accurate NCG Project Model intervention data for quarterly and annual reports.

Job Requirements

KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE

Required Professional Experience

  • A minimum of 7 years of working experience in Health and Nutrition programs in a rural development context, three years of which were at a coordinator/supervisory level or in an equivalent position.

  • Demonstrated technical leader in Ethiopia’s health and nutrition field with in established reputation for contributions in relevant forums, networks, and among USAID and its partners.

  • Experience in assisting field research, and working closely with research institutions.

  • Strong interpersonal, networking, and coordination skills.

  • Excellent analytical, oral, and written communication skills.

Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification

  • BSC in Public Health/Nutrition with 5-7 years of experience in a rural setting.

  • Master’s degree in Public Health/ Nutrition with field experience in a supervision coordinator position for 3-5 years of experience.

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Knowledge of community-based health interventions including the Care group Model and Nutrition Promotion, and dialogue-based counseling techniques to address nutrition during the first 1000 days is strongly preferred.

  •  Excellent report writing skills

  • Ability to communicate and write clearly in English and the local language of the operation area (Amharic and Afan Oromo) is mandatory

Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement: Work at consortium level with frequent travel to both Oromia and Amhara Region  

Language Requirements: Fluent  in English and two  Local Language (Afan Oromo and Amharic)
