The Telecommunications Technician has responsibility for installing, maintaining, and servicing a variety of telephone equipment, installing voice and data communication circuits, security cameras, panic systems, door access, and cabling.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Preventive maintenance of all network elements and documentation of results for allocated sites on a monthly basis

• Report defects, order for and collect spare parts needed, carry out the repair and give the final report of all repair works.

• Raise work orders for replacement of faulty and/or worn out parts and equipment for optimum site performance.

• Network elements (RAN, BTS, Fiber nodes, etc) fault clearance

• Proper use of defined processes and procedures in daily work

• Undertake Preventive and Curative maintenance activities as per laid down processes and procedures specified in the Quality Management Manual

• Provide a Schedule of Preventive Maintenance activities for your Cluster by the 25th day of the month for operations of the following month

• Coordinate escalation and incidence management for Curative interventions with your line manager(Supervisor) and NOC(Helpdesk)

• Site acceptance and work orders execution

• Ensure you have all tools including PPE for work

• Comply to HSE rules for safe working environment and personal safety by use of the right tools and safety gear all the time

• Coordinate provision work completion and spare part summary certificates by the 28th day of each month

• Propose innovations for new services and cost reduction for Broadband as well as Customers

• Performing any other related duties assigned to you by your supervisor from time to time

• Achieve the Targets of attached Balanced Scorecard

Job Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Telecommunication option) or Diploma in Telecommunication engineering

•  3 years’ experience in Telecommunication industry with bias to GSM in the following areas;

• Huawei/Nokia BTS

• Nokia/NEC/Ericsson/ Aviat Microwave equipment

• Protocol knowledge of 5G-NR, LTE, VoLTe, UMTS, and GSM interfaces is also recommended.

• Fiber optics equipment rollout and maintenance

• Implementation and rollout project

• Maintenance of passive site infrastructure (Generators, Aircons, Electrical controls, site janitorial work, Electric fence maintenance) is an added advantage

• Valid driving License
