Job responsibility

Planning

• In consultation with the assigned coach, plan and prepare courses and lessons based on the Cambridge Curriculum and Ethiopian National Curriculum) and administrative regulations and procedures of the School.

• Develop annual as well as weekly plans per the guideline provided.

• Send for approval by the assigned coach on time as required by the guideline.

• Make necessary corrections to the plan as per the recommendation of the assigned coach.

• Finalize the plan with all necessary inputs and corrections.

II Preparation

• Per the lesson plan, develop teaching aids as well as supplemental learning materials.

• Submits resource and material requests ahead of time for the lesson delivery.

• Ensures resources are ready in the classroom a day before the start of the learning session.

• Follows up on the delivery and reports to the assigned coach on missing items at least three working days before the lesson is due to be delivered.

• Collects all teaching aids and other support materials required.

• Organizes classrooms into a welcoming environment with all materials organized to support the learning activity.

• Creates a functional and attractive learning environment through display, bulletin boards and interesting centers.

• Ensures that the table setup is suitable for learning and student’s belongings are well arranged.

• Displays texts and images that support learning as well as students work in classroom walls.

• Displays class rules and expectations in classrooms in a visible manner.

III Delivery

• Ensures that lesson objectives are transparent and clearly explained to students before the start of the lesson.

• Incorporates different teaching techniques and accommodates various learning styles so that students are actively engaged in the lesson.

• Explains topics or activities in context and uses appropriate examples, resources and illustrations as a support technique.

• Manages lesson time following the lesson plan with little disruption or confusion.

• Applies arts and crafts, classroom games and other activities to help children understand the lessons are essential.

• Constantly checks for students’ understanding of materials and develops support/challenging materials to meet students learning needs.

• Provides guidance and advice to students as and when required. 

Job Requirements

Qualifications

• BED in Biology

• 3-5 years teaching experience.

• Should have an excellent command of both written and spoken English.

•  Be able to supply at least 2 education/school based references

• Knowledge of using Computer 

Highly advantageous if

• Masters/PGDT

• Experience in IGCSE/A/As level or  international school (offering IB, British, or Cambridge Curriculum)

• Certification of lab technician
