Who we are
SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia is an International Non-governmental organization and a member of SOS Children’s Villages International Federation. The organization started its humanitarian work with the opening of its first Village in Mekelle, Northern part of Ethiopia in 1974. The organization has been providing life-saving provisions such as food, water and health services for a very significant number of children devastated by severe drought and the subsequent famine.
Today, we have grown significantly to meet the persistent challenges that confront Ethiopian children who have lost parental care and are at risk of losing their parental care. Working in close collaboration with international donors, local government and community based organizations across seven program locations; SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia aspires that every child grows up with love, respect and security.
As part of SOS CVE's effort to respond to different emergencies such as drought, flood, conflict etc, which arise from time to time in different parts of the country, the organization has secured funding to provide emergency support in Gazo and Angot Woredas of the Amhara region. The project will work to address Integrated Emergency Nutrition, needs of the North Wollo zone Gazo and Angot Woredas of the Amhara region.

Your role....
While working with us a CMAM Officer you will be;
Reporting to: Emergency Health and Nutrition Coordinator
In charge of the following:
Promoting and supporting community mobilization and sensitization activities towards nutrition screening program.
Ensuring quality standards are maintained across all programmes including SC, OTP, TSFP, C-MAMI, BSFP, community outreach and dietary diversification.
Ensuring the clinical and physical examination of all children referred to the community management of acute malnutrition (CMAM) programme on day-to-day basis.
Following CMAM medical protocols in the distribution of routine or supplemental drugs to OTP and SC children.
Ensuring the medical protocols are implemented in line with the Federal Ministry of Health Guideline of treatment of SAM.
Conducting Weekly / biweekly/monthly MUAC or Twostep screening in collaboration with community outreach agents and other CMAM Nurses
Ensuring that all the nutrition phases in the inpatient protocols are followed and implemented complying with the protocol.
Ensuring all necessary supplies (food and non-food) are requested on time in collaboration with CMAM Nurses .
Conducting screening in targeted areas to collect total beneficiary figures and confirm/amend log’s requests as necessary;
Ensuring that there is high standard of hygiene sanitation in the SC/OTP/TSFP/ waiting room/screening room and Blanket Supplementary feeding room.
Undertaking regular health and nutrition education sessions in collaboration with Community outreach and CMAM nurses in OTP/TSFP/BSFP/IYCF and SC. Give due emphasis for the children admitted in SC.
Ensuring that children are referred to TSFP/OTP or SC programme based on the national protocol/ international protocols considering all the criteria for referral.
Working with community outreach workers to improve their ability to recognize cause and signs of malnutrition, provide appropriate education to target groups and community to help mitigate MN and refer individuals as appropriate.
Ensuring the integration of IYCF to CMAM programming through strengthening of psychosocial & emotional sites & IYCF promotion & counseling.
Documenting and filling all relevant information of the targeted group related to the targeted programme according to donor requirement and keep those documents in a very accessible place (Soft and hard copy)
Facilitating monthly Review meeting with the SC, OTP sites, health workers and woreda health office staffs at cluster and woreda level
Submitting a monthly and weekly statistical report to the Emergency Health and Nutrition Coordinator
Submit a monthly narrative report in line with GE reporting template to the area coordinator
Child Safeguarding
Responsible to ensure that all beneficiaries are receiving ongoing, age-appropriate verbal or written information in relevant languages about SOS Children’s Villages Child Protection Policy and Code of Conduct.
Ensuring that all support is provided on the best interest of the child.
Responsible to take part in raise awareness raising sessions and capacity building trainings in relation to CS and Code of Conduct and to prevent and protect children and young people from all forms of abuse, abandonment, exploitation, violence and discrimination
Supporting children and young people to make them understand the CS risks and protection mechanisms
Responsible to report any CS suspicion, concern, allegation or incident immediately, following Child Safeguarding reporting procedures. CS reports should be made to the CS team at programme level and/or to the respective line manager

Education
BSc. degree in public Health, Nursing, Nutrition and other relevant fields of study
Experience
A minimum of 2 years work experience in the field of emergency nutrition intervention specifically CMAM, SAM & MAM management.
Additional Requirements and required competencies
Ability to effectively liaise with local governments’ organizations, NGOs, and donors.
Flexible and creative approach, highly motivated and able to take the initiative and work unsupervised.
